SteyrAUG could have handled this a lot better by e-mailing BigPig or GB instead of throwing a temper tantrum like a kid in a school yard. I'm sure this will get resolved via e-mail. I'm also quite sure that AR15.com will survive without "babe of the day" threads. I don't think it is much to ask that people follow the conduct code. It is intersting that for the first year or so that I hung out here the conduct code never changed. It has been revised more in the last 6 months then it has since GB wrote it. That tells me that members either don't understand the rules and we had to elaborate on them or they have made it their hobby to find loop holes in the rules and push them as a far as they can.
Being a Mod or staff member isn't easy. I do it because I enjoy helping members if I can and it gives me a way to put something back into the site. Sometimes we make decisions to quick or make decisions that won't be popular, that's the way it goes. We are all human. Being flamed and verbally abused by members for these decisions when maybe there is more to it then you know doesn't help anything. You might only see the incident that caused a thread to get locked or someone banned. Believe me..there is always more to the story and the matter has been discussed in the mod forum extensively.
I don't like locking accounts but if we don't enforce the few rules here it won't be long before this is another porn site with the odd ar15 topic thrown in. I might be way off but I don't think the [b]firearms[/b] business's that pay GB to advertise here signed on to have their adds on a soft core porn site. No advertising revenue eventually = no site. I don't want that and I don't think any of you do either.
Maybe if someone could answer this question I've asked before it would help me to understand. It's threads like this that keep me here and make me tell all my shooting friends about AR15.com.  Or the NYC Hero thread or the NYC relief fund thread or oneshot1kills thread. These are threads that prove to John Q Public that gun owners are decent caring people with respect for their fellow man. That we aren't a bunch of hunter orange wearing,beer guzzling no minds that drive up and down country roads shooting at mail boxes.  Not babe of the day or blond of the day or thong of the day threads.

I don't know the whole controversy we are so deeply involved in.so I will stay on the periphery of it and just observe.

He was justified in taking action. I just hate that it was the result of a bad call by another moderator that should also be dealt with on the side.

I've been deer hunting hard since mid Oct and have not gotten in the gym for a serious workout since then! [:)]

What about the workout from dragging deer out of the woods?  How have you done?

I have been "holding out" for a large 10 pointer I saw on the last few days of archery season.I passed on literally dozens of deer during "shotgun" (regular) season.

On Thanksgiving morning I saw a small 8 pointer that I was going to let go.I changed my mind and shot it (under 30 yds) when I saw he had a neck wound on the side exposed to me (L).

I later found out it was a recent arrow wound (little foreign body reaction to it and no sign of infection).There was a broadhead and the forward 5" of an arrow in the neck.

I could not let the deer go like that.

It made up for the 2 small bucks I arrowed and could not find during archery season.

Yes,dragging the 8 pointer was a good aerobic workout,but if I get one of the heavy deer we have seen recently (over 200 pounds easily)I am going to need help! [:)]

I must say thank you to the owners/moderators/babysitters of this site. You have provided a nice place for people to come and share ideas, thoughts and experiences about the AR15 rifle. You have also provided a general discussion forum that has rules and limitations. People that overstep those limitations or break the rules are warned. If they do not heed the warnings they are banned. You guys do a lot of work to keep the BS down to a bare minimum. Thanks again.

Ok let me try to explain this one last time:

- BigPig locked the Babe Thread understanding that only one babe thread was going to be allowed from this point on to keep things simple for everyone. (He jumped the gun if you will.)
- Steyr over reacted and posted a HORRIBLE response to that without knowing or caring for the facts. He was then banned.
- Shooter65 complained and created 3 or four threads to antagonize and challenge my actions. I requested he calm down and let this go, he refused. (The limit on BOTD threads, Steyr was not yet banned and was not part of the equation.) Obviously, he was banned as well.

I try to be patient, honest, and open minded as much as possible. I usually warn people and not lock accounts. Even in my shitty mood last night, which you all wish to use as the "excuse" as to why things happened as they did, I warned Shooter several times, in several threads. The Steyr banning was 100% because of his response. I even edited the topic itself because of the harshness of the post.

All this over the BOTD thread which was NEVER LOCKED. I don't think threads such as those will be tolerated anymore, since the childish nature it brings out of people. To overreact so badly over a stupid post which has absolutely ZERO value to the site is a bit much.

For the record, there was no fallout, no other actions taken, I talked to Steyr in chat shortly afterwards and I have been talking with Shooter65 via email.

As for cc48510's wonderful comments in this thread, you can see another example of how childish people can get when they don't get their way.

I like that! I always said never argue with a pig as it confuses the animal and makes you look stupid.
