I think what we need is education vouchers. That way, we can make a qualitative decisions about where we send our kids. I don't have kids yet, but I have made the decision that when I do they will go to private school because in my experience, there is a real agenda that is propogated in the public school system and I don't like it. Education vouchers are needed because I don't want to have my hard earned tax dollars going to a school system that teaches an agenda that I am sharply at odds with. Many school boards and educators now are distorting American History to promote this agenda, and I don't want to be the one who subsidizes it.

IMO...There IS something wrong with them. But that opens up a whole can of worms. Perhaps it should be called Sexual Reproduction Education instead of Sex Ed. That would be a clearer title for what I advocate in the schools. Biology only...not preference, not method, not when, where or how.....just the facts. |

It is pretty funny when Avalon has been taking the road that sex-ed should be taught at school basically by himself and has had several anti sex-ed folks working on him. But when you look at the results of the poll they are running 75% in favor of sex-ed at school and home.
I guess they figure you were doing just fine by yourself avolon. Sorry I have been gone all day so I couldn't contribute. I am going with AR15-gal on this one. Biology of sex only. Safe sex is included with that. Just for you folks that think teens don't have sex. I can guarantee that no matter what you teach at home the peer pressure at school will win 90-95% of the time. We don't have the teen pregnancy rates in this country that we do because everyone at home is doing such a good job. Oh yeah, statistics have shown that in areas with sex-ed have lower teen pregnancy rates then similar areas that don't. |

I try not to get involved with these types of debates since sometimes they degenerate into anti-religion vs pro-religion. Nice to have civil discussions on the board. Av. |

I really haven't been trying to stir everything up. I just let myself get caught into the original Harry Potter discussion the other evening. By the looks of the way the responses were going I figured we needed to get some of this stuff out into the open, let everyone hash out there thoughts till everyone gets tired of it for awhile. Then we can go back to other things.
