Frying it takes too long and is way too much work on a camping trip or while hunting. The beauty if spam lies in it's simplicity. My favorite way to eat it is right out of the can with a pocket knife with a side order of Fritos.

Spam????   Hell Yeah!!!!!!

Fried is best but nuked for about 45 seconds per slice is good too. On toast with mayo, cheese and a fresh slice of tomato, yummy!!!

[The other option would be

SOYLENT GREEN]

It's people you know.  Soylent green, not spam.

Spam, Two Thumbs up.  Waaaay Up.

BTW, very funny M.A.S.H episode where they only had spam to serve on a holiday and the cooks made a spam lamb, in the shape of a lamb.

Grew up eating spam.  Mom would roll us out of bed on Sunday mornings.  Toast, oatmeal and spam.  Fried crispy but not burnt.  If time was even shorter, just toast and spam.

My wife nearly gagged when I brought it home for the first time, now the whole family loves it.  We absolutely destroy a can.

Camping: spam, ranch style beans and tortillas!  Washed down with Shiner...........
YEAH BABY!!!

Spam any way is thumbs down.  I ate it for 3 days straight while I was in the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and I have not been able to eat it since.  YUK!!!

It's a cool Chuch Heston movie.  See it.

BTW, SPAM is very much like PA Dutch scrapple.  Fry it up crispy and put syrup on it for breakfast, or put in on white bread with mustard.  Works equally well for SPAM or scrapple.

Good stuff.  I always keep a can or two in the pantry.  We prefer the 'low sodium' version here too.

Finally an important question....

definately thumbs WAY up!!!

Add to soup, eggs, cheese-toast, pizza, ect, ect

or a traditional sandwich

or straight from the can with a spoon

or eat it with any pineapple, lemon, or other sweet/tart cake - take my word for it!!!

Dice potatoes, about 5/8", chop a generous amount of chopped onion, and dice your Spam about the same size as the potatoes.  Fry up the Spam first until the corners are crispy, remove and rinse the pan.  Then add a little oil and a butter and fry up the potatoes and onions until they are well-cokked, add the Spam for a few minutes, serve next to your eggs.

I prefer the "Less Sodium" version of Spam.  The original can be a little much for saltiness for my taste.

Spam Loaf Hawaiian:

Cut Spam almost all the way through, in 4 even sections.
Put a dab of brown mustard into each slit
Insert a half of a pineapple ring into each slit
Sprinkle with brown sugar, like 2 tablespoons
Garnish with maraschino cherries
Add more pieapple juice and brown sugar to make a "sauce" if desired
Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes

My wife brought this recipe to the marriage and I thank the day she did!!
