Does anyone know what latitude Afghanistan is at.  The Media keeps screaming about some horrible winter??

Afghanistan sits between the 30th and 40th parallels. For reference, the Kansas/Nebraska state line IS the 40th parallel.

My atlas did not list altitudes very well but I'll bet that has a lot to do with it. Maybe wind patterns that blow south from the middle of Russia too.

Afghanistan lies at about 33 degrees north latitude, which is roughly the same as Syria and Tennessee.  But it's the mountainous terrain, not the latitude, that makes the winters difficult.

Okay its due to the elevation. Thanks for the info.
