H&R 20 gauge. Grandfather bought it for me when I was 12.
Almost looks like a toy to me now.
Will never get rid of it.

Yup...my first gun (not counting the daisy air rifle) was a Stevens/Savage, single shot, 16 gauge shotgun.  I was 13 at the time and my folks said if I wanted to hunt, I had to save up and buy the gun myself...cost me $37 brand new in 1965.  Pulled it out of the safe last year and did some rabbit hunting with it just for old times sake!!

My dad gave me a Savage 73Y single shot .22 for a Christmas present when I was 6 years old.  My 6 year old son now has that rifle and has been shooting it with my helping hands since the age of 3.  By the way, he knows you never point a gun at anyone! My almost two year old will start learning  gun safty when he can start talking.   jim g

Like so many others, a Ruger 10/22. Bought it at Target. Paid $89.99 for it in 1981. The store is gone but my Ruger lives on :-)

My very first gun was a mossberg 500. I did lots of customization to it including refinishing the entire gun with flat black baking lacquer. 3 years ago some a-hole (I know who did it, but can't prove it) stolden it.

My first gun, a Ruger "single six" .22 revolver. Still have it and it shoots great. Use to look at it every day in the gun shop on my way home from the school bus stop. Finally talked Dad into the purchase, we put it on "layaway" forever, actually only about six months. I'll always remember finally getting to take it home and the fact that I was in sixth grade (1965). Dads gone now but that little revolver will always remind me of his love for me and the begining of my interest/love of firearms.

When I was 10 years old, my dad bought me a Ruger 44mag carbine and a Sears double barrel 410gauge to hunt deer and birds with.  That was over 20 years ago and I still have both.  My wife will be using the 44mag this year.

1st Rifle - Ruger 10/22 Deluxe (Walnut Stock) my dad purchased for $49.95 - still have it AND the original receipt! The only modification is a recent Clark trigger job, and a 3-9 Tasco. Gun is 30 years old and still shoots great.
Thought about tricking it out w/heavy barrel, stock, etc., But it's just too damn sentimental for that.

1st Shotgun - Savage 20 gauge "Youth Model". Sold it for $40 (like an idiot); wish I still had that one, but I got the big head and had to have a 12 gauge Ithaca 51.

Rule of thumb: DON'T SELL A GOOD GUN TO BUY A MORE EXPENSIVE ONE! KEEP WHAT YOU'VE GOT UNTIL YOU CAN AFFORD THE NEXT!

Of every gun I ever had (but 2) I wish I had 'em back. The only ones I dont miss are a Mini-14 and a Charter Arms "Bulldog"; (what a POS)it was given to me in lieu of an $80 loan somebody couldn't pay back.

Remington Nylon Mohawk Brown .22 rifle. I thought that was the coolest rifle in the world. After I bought it I thought I was cool, too.

I was about 13 or 14 and saved up the money I earned by cutting grass with a push lawn mower. My father and I went to a Western Auto store. I looked at the Apache Black, but the Mohawk Brown was the one I fell in love with.

That was in 1963 or '64. You could also by a box of Imperial 22 cal bullets for 50 cents at the right store. Other brands were about 75 cents.
Now I have seen empty Imperial boxes for sale as collectors items. I threw away a hundred of them.

I gave that rifle to my eldest son when he turned 21, but it is still located at my house.

BTW - I was taught to shoot on a Remington Rolling Block (single shot, of course) rifle. It was my mothers, being given to her by her father in the late 1920's or early 1930's. My grand father cut the stock to fit my mother's small frame, which made it perfect for youths. In 1960 it was still accurate enough to hunt squirrels with. My oldest brother has that rifle. It is still in perfect mechanical condition.

As a kid I shot MANY rounds of those Imperials! We use to buy them at Otasco (kind of like Western Auto) for $.59, $.69 a box. Also they had the Imperial & "Canuck" paper shotgun shells for $1.49 a box. I think the Canucks were also made by the same company, both were manufactured in Canada. The ammo was kind of nasty but We never had a round that failed to fire, but sometimes they would jam in a semi-auto. When you cut a yard for 2 hours and made $3.00 you bought what was CHEAP!

A Glenfield semi-auto .22, with 7 round magazine.  Glenfield was a cheaper Marlin at that time.  Bought in 1962, I was 10, and I still have it.

Otasco (Oklahoma Tire and Supply Company), bought many a box of .22 there (Little Rock, AR)

My first gun was a Marlin 336C .30-30 at age 13.  Bought it at a local grocery store that had a small sporting goods section.  Many years ago when my kids needed to eat, I sold all of my other guns, but couldn't bring myself to sell that one.  It's still the one I carry in the deer woods, and I've never had a deer run after being hit with a 170 grain soft point.

First rifle, Remington Target Master .22 single shot at age six. Still have it, but haven't shot it in a couple of decades. First handgun,
.22 Ruger Standard Model ($37.50 nib) at age 12. Still have it, still shoot it.

My Dad gave me a Winchester 20 guage pump when I was 10. He got it for me for Christmas that year, but gave it to me early for hunting season. Man, I'll never forget that night ! Still got it; locked away in the ole safe.[:D]

Still have my first BB gun - Daisy with a modern (early 60's)plastic stock.  First firearm- Marlin Glenfield 30AS, still an active deer rifle.  First pistol- Browning Highpower 9mm.  Still have them all.  But they are not lonely by any means.

Bought it over twelve years ago.

A Dan Wesson 357 mag with a 6 inch barrel.
Still got it today.  I'm glad I had it too.  All the slums I lived in, it kept me warm and secure through the times I was a starving student.

Can't bring myself to sell it.

Will probably give it to my son when he's ready.

My first... a Colt Match Target AR15 (forget what the model no. was, but it's the one with the removable carry handle, 20" bbl.) and yes I still have it, although it looks quite different today (everything forward of the upper rec. is different)  First shotgun: Mossberg 590, still have it, and yes, I have an M9 bayonet for it too.[}:D]

I was 12 and Dad gave me a Browning BS/S side by side 20 gauge for my birthday.  Still have that gun and it still locks up tight as a tick.  Have shot probably over 1000 rounds through that shotgun.  Fantastic dove gun.
Later I bought an old model Super Single Six from Dad for $60.00.  Sold it in college for $120.00 bucks thinking I made a killing!  What a Dope!  It had the special full flap Bianchi holster with Ruger Eagle  and a pouch for the extra cylinder.  Whaaaaaaa!

Mine was a POS Ruko AR-22.  You know those cheap .22 AR-15 lookalike with the collapable stock.   I still have the barreled action but the stock died about two years after I bought it.  Not sure what crap wood it was made up but it split to hell and back....I bought it instead of a used 10/22 cause IT WAS BLACK AND COOOOLLL....damn I was an idiot!

Now I am the proud owner of 47 differnt firearms!!

Marlin 22 cal, tube fed, semi-auto. I ha dit for a few years and had problems with it. I got a hold of Marlin Co. and they told me they'd fix it for almost as much as I paid for it new. It has since been traded toward a Ruger 10/22. Now if had just had something to trade for the new AR I want!  [:D]

Sure do.

A Remington 870 Wingmaster Magnum, 12 ga., vent-rib, 30" full with all that beatiful dark, highly polished walnut furniture.

Got it the day I turned 12.  Price including tax was $211.00.

Can you imagine that.  $211.00 for a brand new 870 Wingmaster.

It was one of the proudest days of my life.

I'd give my left nutt before I'd part with that shotgun.

Still have it a .380 Armi Tanfoglio 20 yrs now. I would have sold it but I would not do that to anyone. Jams on every shot (think the clip is bad) and kicks sharply for a 380.  Just leave it in my beater truck hoping someone will steal it eventually.

Well the only thing my father ( I use that term loosely)ever gave me was his looks....BASTARD!!!

I bought my first gun, a Ruger P94DAO, because I got married, had a home and a soon to be child to protect.

Oh, BTW, my lovely bride had been packing a Taurus model 85 for years...I have her to thank for converting me from a bed-wetting liberal to a gun totin' NRA card-carrying conservative..Bless her heart.

...and yes we both still have them....plus a few new ones!

No, got rid of my first gun. It was a Charter Arms AR-7. It was supposed to be a survival rifle but I don't think even Tom Hanks could have used that turkey of a gun. You would be lucky to  hit a dinner plate at 25 ft if the gun didn't jam.

My first rifle was a Ruger Ranch Rifle in SS finish.  Fortunately, it was right after the ban, so I was able to get lots of mags for little money at gunshows.  Of course that was when there were gun shows in Connecticut.  I still have the rifle and will never sell just b/c it was my first.

Yep, still a proud owner of my HK-91.

Worked all summer during one of my high school years to purchase it for $699.00.  And we're talking full retail price.

I didn't know anything about FFL's back then.

A bargain when you consider the price these days.

Marlin Model 60, I can't possible imagine how many rounds I have put through that thing.  It has been more reliable than the 10/22's I have used and takes 17 rounds. I actually still have and shoot my first pellet rifle.  An RWS break barrel, 1000fps.

Erick Koch, my uncle has an AR-7, I am not sure it is charter arms however; it was both accurate (relatively), and quite reliable. I am not sure of the different makers of the AR-7 but it is all black, everything.

My first (and so far my fav) was my .357 Colt Python, nickeled, 8" barrel.  Still have it, shoot it, love it and I will NEVER get rid of it.  This was a Xmas gift from my father when I was 16, best Xmas that I have ever had...so far!

My 1st was a Savage youth model 20ga. given to me by my dad. I still have it and will give it to my son in the near future.  I was very lucky to have a father who taught me the responsibilties of gun ownership at a young age.  I recived several guns for presents from my parents growing up, these guns will not be traded or sold but passed on to my kids as my father passed his guns to me.
