You are thinking about the LaFrance .45 AR, it uses a thompson stick mag only.
Oly and Dalphon upper conversions use the UZI mag. or 28 round modified M3 sticks, both types hard as hell to load. I am working on converting a preban snail drum to use on an OLY conversion, it give me 55 rounds and will be easy to load. |

Putting a .45 barrel on an AR is like putting a slant 6 in a Hemi Cuda. Why take away all that power and penetration. The ammo isn't even cheaper. [sniper]

I want it so I can shoot at a indoor rangein the winter time.They have a AR leauge and every one else shoots a 22 conversion unit.So just to be diffrent..........
I agree a pistol caliber in a rifle or carbine is a waste.Now a subgun would be nice to play with(Illinois) but for anything serious give me at least a 223 |

Well, for one, 45 is much more easily suppressed, with no supersonic "crack" upon exiting the suppressor. Also, I happen to be a 1911 guy, so having a long arm that accepts the same ammo appeals to me, and the Marlin folks don't like us Black Rifle guys. Of course, I recommend having a 223 upper, as well, in whatever flavor you prefer.

I just found a picture of on, but it looks like it takes an m-3 grease gun mag, not the thompson.

LG Weapons has a 45 unit. I've been working with Kurt on a 45 unit, as well, but it has been rough going. Everyone knows where to get ahold of Kurt, but LG is: [url]http://www.faxworldcom.com/lgweap[/url]
I wrote them an email last week, but have yet to hear anything about it. Basically, since I am now in a Class III friendly state, I asked if the unit was FA compatible, and what mags it took.
