I know our government has set the precedence that states can't secede of their own free will... but can the Federal government kick a state out? Say, a state like California? Read this article. I'm embarrassed to admit I was born in that abortion of a state... I think I'll just claim I was born in Kansas from now on. This will make you puke:
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - More than 3,000 people rallied behind U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee, the only member of Congress to oppose a resolution granting President Bush authority to use force against terrorists. The crowd in downtown Oakland erupted in cheers Sunday when actor Danny Glover walked Lee to the podium about two hours into the rally. Glover called Lee a hero. Alice Walker, the writer, called her inspiring. Lee thanked the crowd profusely for their support, following songs, poetry and speeches in her honor. The Democrat's decision has won both admiration and derision from California's 9th district which includes the historically dovish cities of Oakland and Berkeley. It also prompted more than 50,000 letters and e-mails from around the nation of similarly divided reaction. She has explained her recent dissent as an appeal for restraint. "We must be careful not to embark on an open-ended war with neither an exit strategy nor a focused target," Lee told her colleagues last month. She later voted to spend $40 billion on anti-terror and disaster relief. Last week, former state Assemblywoman Audie Bock announced she would run against Lee in the March Democratic primary, and already had geared up a patriotic-themed campaign called it's "OK to love America." Historically dovish city of Oakland????? This is a city that was home to the strongest chapters of both the Hells Angels and the Black Panthers.

I really have to wonder just what these supposed "doves" would do and say if some one had flown an airliner into the stadium where the Raiders were playing the 49er's in the Super Bowl? And just how those same people would feel if the rest of the nation just patted them on thier churlish little heads and told them to go back to bed, when they wake up in the morning, the nightmare will be all gone? [soapbox]

IT ALL STARTS WITH TEXAS. When they get fed up and try to leave the union, the entire south will follow suit. The mid-south, midwest, pacific Northwest, southwest, cornbelt, rocky mountain and a smattering of mid-atlantic and northeast states will then join in. When it is realized that everybody wants to leave the union save Kalifornia and a few states in the northeast, those states will then be kicked out including Florida below Orlando. The new capital will be Austin where dubya and his entire administration would be reinstated . The Bill of Rights would be edited with the single word INDIVIDUAL added appropriately to the second enumerate.

The Feds would never boot CA, with its 34 million highly compensated taxpayers. If anything, they would boot the Middle Western states or the Southern States because of all the anti-Federalist fervor they generate.

Berkeley is certainly NOT representative of the entire state. It IS an enclave of tree hugging, left wing, lesbian/gay, politically correct assholes who have never worked in the real world and wouldn't survive if they were to leave that communist nirvana. I'd suggest a nuke strike on Berkeley if I wasn't downwind.

Baby, if that shit were to ever go down in Tennessee there would be a far different outcome. The rally would turn into a damn free for all.

Let 'em try that shit here in Pensacola. In fact they can do right in front of all this city's Veterans and Navy Guys. Let's see how long before they get their collective asses kicked.

There are some overwhelmingly Liberal areas in America. With the exceptions of Massachutsetts, Conneticut, and Rhode Island non of them come any where near encompassing an entire state. Florida South of Orlando is not correct. Let's make that Florida east of Lake County and South of St. John's County. The only exception being Gainseville who even though too far west would be kicked out with the rest of the Garbage. California North of San Diego and up through the Bay Area and east about 1 county including Sacramento. North New Jersey. Maryland East of and Including the area surrounding DC, except areas south of DC lying near VA. Whatever areas made Missouri and South Dakota elect their Congressman. All of MA, CT, and RI. Areas north of LA surrounding The MS River for x miles. Cooke County, IL and surrounding areas. Washington State west of and including Seattle. Portland, Oregon and Surrounding areas.

If the colors denote political affiliation, I would say they are reversed. Red is typically associated with Republicans (although it's actually more fitting for liberals given the colors association with Communism) and blue (tealish in this image) for Democrats.

The Civil War pretty much cemented that the preservation of the Union is paramount, and will be preserved by the feddies at all costs. I douby they could, but I wish they would. Kindstranger is dead on the nuts when he mentions it all starting with Texas. They would be the first to ever go directly against federal policy.

Also, the problem is inherent to Metro areas moreso than states. I've lived in Miami, Portland, OR, Minneapolis, MN- All absolute cess pools (Minneapolis being the worst shit stinking ghetto i've ever seen- and i've seen to Gary, Indiana.). Once you get out of the core metro areas, it's get better.

I believe that most Californians would rather see a city or cities (say, Berkeley and Oakland) kicked out of the state. They're the few loud, misguided fools that make the rest of California look bad. It's just that the rest of us don't have the media machine behind us for being right thinking. Face it -- it's not news to hear that a plane DIDN'T crash. It's the norm. The norm isn't news; the aberration is news. So we people who truly are the norm are ignored by the media and these people are the aberration.

Sounds good man, but majority rules. [:)] If you were in the majority (i.e.. "normal") then all those anti-gun laws wouldn't pass with such alarming frequency. Unfortunately punting a city is logistically more difficult than punting the whole state. I therefore suggest you relocate to a more friendly state and support my call for kicking Cali to the curb. this is exactly the reason we don't go with popular vote for presidency. since metro areas tend towards more liberal agendas, and the vast majority of the population of the U.S. resides in metro areas, the wannabe president need only campaign in about 5 of the largest metro areas in the U.S. that's just exactly how Gore would have one (he gets the electoral votes for winning the big cities, which happen to be in states with large electoral counts) had it not been for the peninsular state to the south.

This is a much better microanalysis than was mine. The point is: 1. It all starts with texas. 2. The vast land mass of USA will join them. 3. The northeast will have to be carved up a bit. 4. Richard Gere will not be welcome here. BTW, when he said that he would move to Canada if our current commander got elected, could that be construed as renouncing citizenship in advance? [:E]

I live in Wisconsin and about two weeks ago in Madison, the goddamn capitol of the state, the school board decided to ban the Pledge Of Allegiance! It took about a week for those democommies to have their heads pulled out of their asses! And there are still plenty of bastards whining about it being reinstated! Madison is also the city where there are daily antiwar protests being held by spoiled pussy college students whose parents give them too much money and not enough attention.
Link Posted: 10/22/2001 7:24:18 PM EDT
Isn't Madison where a bunch of College Kids voted 8 times ? The vote in WI was only seperated by a few thousand votes, just like Iowa and Oregon. New Mexico was sepearted by less than 100 Votes. 3 of these 4 states combined could have given Bush the election w/o Florida. Chicago had more questionable ballots than the difference in Vote in Illinois. More important is if California had not voted, Bush would have won by 1 Million Votes (Popular) and 58 Electoral Votes. Had the Liberal Areas been kicked out of California, the margin would have been more like 7 Million Votes (Popular) and 112 Electoral Votes.

CALIFORNIA --THE PLACE THAT BROUGHT YOU RONALD REAGAN (one of those liberal hollywood puke actors, right?) --we get 1 fucking liberal asshole democrap Gov in over 20 years and he signs some fucked up laws that do NOT directly affect (indirectly, yes)the rest of the nation of gun owners. but YET our Nation of Gun Owners (brothers in arms, if you will) has NO PROBLEM taking the Biggest Nastiest Stinking FUCKING SHIT ON US and makes attempts to kick us out of the union -- gee thanks "for all I care those ass wipes living along the coast can fall into the fucking Ocean.I hate all those L.A. and S.F. bastards.Let the mother loving rats have them!" WHY THANK YOU VERY MUCH, with friends like this who needs enemies? anyone ever think about why antiwar protests dont happen in KY, TN or other places ? BECAUSE ALL THE YOUR LIBERALS MOVED TO KALIF -- they are NOT kalif liberals they are YOURS, homegrown from the ultra-conservative bible belt. (not saying its a bad place) I THINK ITS TIME FOR YOU PEOPLE TO RETRIEVE YOUR LIBERALS AND TAKE THEM BACK HOME, so they cant corrupt kalif anymore. this DREAM you all have of Texas rescuing the USA is just a lot of BULLSHIT TOUGH TALK, it means NOTHING until you guys actually do it. I WELCOME IT!!! like ive said before, tell the Air Force pilots to save some Nukes and DROP THEM ON KALIF PLEASE DO IT, PLEASE PLEASE, im ready to die so the rest of the gun owners in this country can be a bit happier that kalif is no longer apart of this country. a simpler plan would be relocate Silicon Valley to some other state, then we take Microsoft and Boeing out of Wa. -- then the majority of Liberals will LEAVE THESE AREAS. TECHNO JOBS = LIBERALS, simple enough? Liberals Dont grow here, they come for the jobs. get rid of the jobs and you get rid of the liberals. just like cutting off the food source for FUCKING RATS you no longer have a rat problem. any time you have a war, you will have war protesters, and isnt that what this country was founded upon? protesting, freedom of speech, the right to have an opinion and disagree ? it would NOT be america if we couldnt do that, which is what some of you want to stop from happening. gun owners in kalif probably do more for gun rights, know what fighting for gun rights is about, and buy more guns per year than a few states COMBINED. if you live in a progun class 3 state then you probably dont know much about what fighting for gun rights is about, your NOT in the fight for the 2nd, yer "in the rear with the gear". damn i hate these kalif bash threads, some of the members on this board need to stop sitting on there brain and use them once in a while. Largely true, unfortunately. It's a clear example of the adage about the squeaky wheel. The people who shout their rhetoric loudest get the most news coverage. Most people don't closely examine issues that don't personally affect them so they let that coverage determine how they vote. So a noisy minority, taking advantage of the nature of both our media and most voters, creates that majority.

If you're setting the example of how to fight for our gun rights, I say we fire your ineffective asses! Jesh, your liberal cesspool of a state has passed more anti-gun, anti-freedom (bans on riding motorcycles in state parks and bans on other ORV's as an example) laws than any other state. California is the test bed for all liberal laws. If it's a socialist and wacky liberal idea, it will pass as a law in California. Then slowly other states use California as a precedence to pass similar laws. So your states socialist disease does effect our nation eventually. Laugh... laws taking citizen tax dollars and paying for illegal immigrant's hospital bills. That's just one more wacky liberal law which passed that I get a laugh out of. You just sound pissed because you live in that dump and you're taking your aggression out on us. Laugh. I feel sorry for you though... Hell, in my state we elect Democratic governors all the time, but we still have CCW's and machineguns. Hell, I can even carry my MP5K concealed in this state... or in the open with my leg holster! So much for the notion Democraps = anti-gun.

Actually your fellow statesman LAgunman2K got personal and I responded in kind. I know this is tough for you to grasp, so I won't push the issue. It does help to have things in perspective though. Perhaps this is one of the contributing factors to your loosing the battle for guns rights in your state. You're easily confused and your reading comprehension is lacking. If you can't follow a simple thread how can you be expected to articulate your position in the battle for your gun rights effectively?
I surmise from your signature pic that you're a Marine and you know how to fight.

Whoa! That's original! Laugh, every idiot that can't defend their position or gets called on their idiocy always seems to bring a persons service into the discussion. You talk awfully tough sitting 1,500 miles away. But alas, this behavior is also typical of your kind. You're not very impressive.

YOU chose to live in California, not me. Each state is autonomous (look it up in a dictionary) and self governing. It's not my battle to fight your local (state, county or city) laws, that's YOUR job. I have my work cut out for me fighting our own guns rights issues in Indiana and at the Federal level (where we all should be concerned and have an obligation to be active). God I hope you have someone more articulate than yourself assisting in your battle for gun rights in your state. If not, there's no surprise you're losing so many battles and with such frequency.
Why don't you take your own advice and find something more productive to do. Get a life. Buy a gun. Celebrate the fact that you don't live in California. Whatever.

I buy lots of guns... I own more than 125 of them actually. I'll buy a new one this week as well... a nice little M19-3 I picked up in an online auction. Thanks for showing interest in my ever expanding gun collection though, it's mighty white of you. I do celebrate the fact I live in Indiana. I actually moved here because of the close proximity to Chicago (to work) and because of its gun laws. I'm smart enough to locate myself in a society of like minded people. That's the beauty of the US, we have 50 states to choose from when looking for a place to live. Unlike you, I'm willing to take advantage of this freedom. It's not a detractor, it's a benefit... but then I'm sure this concept is lost upon you. Ta-ta tough guy.

Ahh, touché and point taken. Humm, but given the recent anti-gun laws which have done everything from ban various semi-auto rifles to proposed legislation to ban guns based on their performance in state regulated safety tests... why aren't the "majority" (assuming gun owners are) more vocal? You would think the current trend in anti-gun laws would bring them screaming into the streets. Do you think if they put these gun laws on a ballot that they would be repealed? I was certain Missouri was mostly pro-gun and that St. Louis and Kansas City controlled the political climate for the entire state (that being liberal). They put a CCW law to the ballot and it lost! I was shocked... but the metropolitan area's seem to have the majority of active voters and unfortunately these folks are anti-gun.

Here we go again with a variation on the "Sovereign Nation of Texas" wet dream. Where do you people get your ideas? I lived in Texas for years and saw no more of this "secessionist" sentiment there than you would find in any other state. Texas wasn't even all that gun-friendly a place until recently. Texas wasn't very quick to become a shall-issue state, you may recall. Look, folks, it ain't going to happen. Michigan is at least as likely to secede as Texas. I don't care what it says in the Texas and Arizona laws about it being legal to secede. That is nothing but words on paper. You have to have the will of the populace, or at least a forceful segment of the populace, to secede and you don't have that.

You're likely right. And MO's recent history supports that. The media clearly has a bias. My meager understanding of our Constitution is that one of the points of freedom of the press is that people would form their opinions and vote based upon what the press, unfettered by gov't, tells them. Unfortunately, the press is simply fettered (is that a word?) by its own bias. Hence the growing anti-gun sentiment. At the same time, gun owners are a fragmented lot. Those with socially acceptable hunting and sporting guns haven't typically banded with those of us who own those child killing handguns and assault weapons (their words, not mine). I've had shooters at the range literally look down their noses at me when I pull my Bushmaster out of its case. So even if all gun owners combined represent some majority (questionable), the liberal rhetoric has us fragmented -- No, we don't want your deer gun. We just want that nasty black rifle. -- And so to preserve their Rem700 .30-06, they would allow the sacrifice of our AR's, HK's, AK', etc.(Before I start getting flamed, I realize I'm overgeneralizing here. But I'd be surprised if many of you haven't experienced the same shooting caste system at the range). Fortunately for the rest of us, some of us do "scream in the streets," metaphorically speaking. We write to our representatives, we fax the governor, we sign and pass around petitions. I checked the voting records of my local State legislators here in Orange County, CA. All but one voted AGAINST the recently passed gun law. So our screaming works. Just not broadly enough. Yet. But that's why those of us down here would love it if we could secede from the state. Even our local Sheriff thinks CA's gun laws are confusing and pointless.

To answer the opening rhetorical question: No, there is no Constitutional procedure for evicting a state from the Union. You're all stuck with the OCR, both good and bad. We good guys in CA are some of your best friends even if you refuse to see it. We're doing what we can to hold back the tide of Stupidism(R), and if we all left it would just hasten the spread to other states. The occupational government here is further evolved down the path of power-grabbing and statism than most of the other states because it is in session more often and feels it has to produce more laws. In Nevada the legislature meats every OTHER year for about 5 weeks. They don't have enough time to do the kind of damage we see in the OCR. We need your help out here, not a bunch of crap from armchair revolutionaries who are so willing to tell us what we should be doing. It's not just our problem, guys. Consider yourself safe at your own risk.

Anyone who is willing to take this country apart will have real vets ready to defend this nation. Cali is in the US. Dont like it??????Then stop posting on AR15.com and run for office. I wont vote for you because you dont have the wherewithalls to post a coherant topic much less DICKtate a succession. Do something. Flashing the budwieser?????Looks like you brought up the service every damn time you post. Silly rabbits tricks are for kids

If you're the standard by which people are judged to be impressive or not, I'll take this statement as a complement.
Denigrating Californians is so passé.

Well, once again your lacking reading skills seem to be rearing their ugly head. I'm not "denigrating" Californians in a singular fashion. What I have done however is start a satirical thread highlighting the leftist politics which culminated in a rather distressing article. I'm sorry you're so sensitive about being a Californian. I feel your pain. One thing I learned in the military is to have a thicker skin and not to act so bitch like in my endeavors. In the Corps. we poke fun at race, religion and even sexual preferences. A fighting mans skin must be thick as we often find ourselves in very serious situations which remind us how trivial words, among other thing, are. When dealing with armchair tough men such as yourself I find humor in your infantile taunts. You're no real threat to me or even your anti-gun opponents. People like yourself are so caught up in their blind hatred that you're unable to discriminate between worthy battles and pathetic displays of emotional inadequacy such that your comments here represent. You are a thin skinned little man that finds a virtual refuge in your lounge chair hiding behind your keyboard and monitor. You lob failed insults such as "chicken shit" as if they have any meaning coming from a man (and I use the term loosely) such as yourself.
I fully understand the concept of "voting with your feet" and I meant no disrespect to your service to our country.

No disrespect was inferred. A person such as yourself hasn't earned the right or ability to insult me. I didn't "vote with my feet", I didn't endeavor to own machineguns until I found a home in a state which allowed it. Unlike you I actually find a way to accomplish things in my life. If you aspire to own a machinegun but are waiting for the political climate in California to allow for it... then I, and the rest of the world, would deem you to be a complete idiot. I was born in California, but my family left when I was two years old. A little young to "vote with my feet". Since then I've lived in many states and my home in Indiana is only temporary. When I move, will I abandon my machineguns and move to California for some perceived noble cause? Laugh, only an idiot like you would suggest such action. Nope, I'll find another machinegun friendly state to take up residence.
I'm on the front lines, trying to stop it at its source. You're right, I'm not all that articulate but I give it my best effort.

You're not on the front lines of anything. You probably sit on your fat ass pounding away on your keyboard doing nothing more than you're doing now... blowing hot air. You're such a valiant soldier! You're a damn joke... Since you attacked my service to my country, do you care to tell us what service you've offered?

Laugh, another illiterate and thin skinned Californian. God, do you guys have anyone in your state with an IQ above their shoe size? Real vet eh? Another tough guy. Try some Prozac, it's amazing how this can help with your violent, irrational episodes. PS. No one is calling for California to secede. This thread started as call to kick California out of the union... this obviously was satirical and so outlandish that it was assumed even the least evolved simpleton would have figured this out on their own. But stupidity never ceases to amaze me... it's similar to life itself, it will always find a way to exist. But then real vets like yourself aren't bothered with the details... you just ramble on acting tough because it gets your testosterone flowing and makes you feel manly. Laugh.

That's cute, I even cracked a smile. You have one redeeming quality, you're at least a moderately funny moron. Care to address the issues I've raised though? You're an accomplished name caller and jokester, but can you actually defend your ignorance with intelligible dialogue?

That`s funny, no answers to pointed advice, just a blowhard assuming my IQ from a single post and where I reside. As for it being a joke, ..........boy, just hang around for a bit or try to remember back in the service how often Cali gets bashed. Cali got bashed even when there was no reason to do so. Now we have f*up laws and the same bs comes oozing our way again, so please assume we will take it as another 'I hope Cali falls in the ocean' bs or other nonsense like kicking us out. Ever consider if there is another state that feeds the world, ever wonder who has the highest income? Our gunlaws are a disaster, our politicians are punks, us RTKBA folks here in Commiefornia need help, not people that easily give up. I would expect someone flashing a BUD would be a stick to yer guns kinda guy. I believe it still takes heart to get thru BUDS. What class # were you?
