Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about picking this up around Xmas, and I was wondering if I could get some opinions of anyone's expierience with FAL type rifles. It should be noted that this one is made by DS Arms http://www.dsarms.com, and is US made and high quality, not some centurion POS. Still, it's gonna cost almost $2000, and I'm a little hesitant as I've never fired any FAL. I'd appreciate a little insight.

Thanks!

I am planning to get one too about the same time as you mentioned.  Go to www.fnfal.com.  Any of your questions will be answered there regarding to the FN FAL.  At least the mags are cheap.

First the OSW is LE only. You knew that right?

Second the DSA Stg58 is a better deal.

We are doing the X Series in Green or Black for $1,200.00.

Hey Steyr Aug,

I know that the OSW is LEO only, I was actually planning on buying the a regular SA58, then getting a short barrel, folding stock, and rail system and register it as a short barreled rifle. I've emailed them to see if they'd sell me a 16" barreled "OSW" type rifle, and I'm awaiting their reply.

I'd definitely be interested in the $1200 STG if they can't hook me up. How come it's $1200, though? On DS Arms' website they have it listed for $995.

My plan was basically this... Id buy the..

STG 58A Carbine - $1000

SA58™ OSW 11" Barrel Complete Front End - $400

FAL Rail Interface Handguard - Short Gas System -$ ???

Para Alloy Lower & Folding Stock - $325

ERGO FAL Metric HK G3 Style Tactical Grip - $25

Extreme Duty Scope Mount - $68

SureFire Millenium Vertical Foregrip System M900A - $408

TOTAL COST - $2226 + tac rail cost + any registration costs, etc... and presto! I'll have this -

Now, before anyone goes completely nuts, I haven't ordered anything, and I'm in only the most initial stages of looking at the complications involved in making and registering a SBR in NY. So, don't go absolutely fu
I'd appreciate anyone's opinion on this, maybe you guys have a similar expierience, trying to build and register a SBR. Or maybe it's really techical to assemble a FN FAL? (I doubt it's that hard...) Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

Why not a 14.5" M4? .308 through that 11" barrel could get ugly. Just a thought.

Good plan except for the folding stock would not be legal on a post ban gun. And it's $1,200.00 because of the X Series furniture. A standard Stg58 retails for $995.00, not the X series.

Also the rail system is out of stock and will be for some time. I've got several on back order myself.

Well,

Until the legislators get their brains back and repeal the folding stock law, I guess I could live with a fixed stock... It'd look something like this...

I guess I could accept that!

Did I miss the Para bolt in your list for the folder?

Do you need a different bolt for use on a para stock? Anything else I'm missing?

Do they make a fixed, but folding lookalike?  That would look much cooler.
