What's the serial # cut off for the 03 springfield recievers with bad recievers? 118,000 or 181,000 or 188,000 I can't remember, and I am at work and can't look it up right now. Will someone help me out. Thanks, guns762

According to Hatcher's Notebook the cut-off is 800,000 for Springfield receivers, and 285,507 for Rock Island guns. Hope this helps!

All Rem 03 recvr's are safe, 1941-43 production and Nickel steel like late SA produced recvr's.

Does anyone know if the improperly heat treated Springfield 03 recievers could be fixed by having them cryogenicaly tempered?

ArmdLbrl: I wouldn’t think cryogenic treatment of a receiver would do it. I think you need to have someone heat treat it properly like should have been done to begin with. In his book “The Mauser Bolt Actions”, Gunsmith Jerry Kuhnhausen recommends the following outfit for heat treating firearms: Blanchard Metal Processing 1115 South Pioneer Road Salt Lake City, UT 84125 You might try contacting them.
