There were some people that wanted it gone. But it think it was obvious the larger, dare I even say, overwhelming majority did and do want it back. GB said he was putting it back. I know he is busy and that running a site is no easy task. I'm just asking when he thinks it will be back.
For what it is worth based on post count alone I am a relative newbie even though I was on the old site long ago. So I am not asking to increase my own ego by showing off a large post count. but I do like to know whom I am talking to and the post count does help that. antiUSSA, it comes as no surprise that you hope it never comes back in spite of the fact that most people do want it back. The opinions of the members have never been of any concern to you. (My obligitory cheap shot at anti to balance those he likes to take at me without provocation.) |

There are many reasons to [b]NOT[/b] have it return... most of those stem from the waste of BW posts like "raise your post count here" threads and others like that. At some point in time those types of posts may simply be labeled as "SPAM" and disallowed... I have no problem talking about issues, seeing links to sexy pics, or even threads that joke around, but I don't like waste of BW garbage...
I think we can regulate the posting of this "virtual waste" more simply with the continued removal of the Member ranks... there will [b]NOT[/b] be a junior member level... and perhaps senior member will also be removed. (TBD at this point.) Hope this helps clarify things... [i]FYI - The joined date will remain and the post count will simply be added to the information displayed.[/i] |

Yes, no labels of "junior" or "senior" we should all be known just as "member" is'nt that how a collective should be ?? no one should be made to feel inferior or less than whole in the collective. Might I suggest that instead of the label of "member" we use the more fitting term of "comrade" so we can all feel as one and not hurt anyones feelings.

As GB has already said, the post count spawned too many posts like "Rack up your post count". These posts did nothing except waste bandwidth. The final decision will be made by GoatBoy.

Sheesh, simmer down timmy, Personally, I could care less if there is a post count or not but then why have a "member since" post either ?? It is wrong anyway, I was here long before it says I was.
You also mentioned "headaches and confusion" and "racing to get there first" How so?? to the first part,... and to get where first ?? As to the notion that there should be certain "rights and priveleges" that go with being a member, AGREED !!! It was suggested at one time that there be a members only forum but that got shot down. I think that would be a great idea. |

OMG you guys are grumpy farts...
]=) The joined since date sucks... I understand that... I have the harddrive still sitting on my desk pulled apart and ready for a power transplant to see if I can possibly pull some data from it. (I've deduced an evil power failure in the drive causes it to fail and has been causing sectors to corrupt... done this once before and was successful... we'll see what happens when I get the chance.) IF I can pull that info, I doubt I will take the time to alter your member details, but will instead do everything in my power to rebuild the old board data to salvage the information there... Keep in mind this is tedious and pointless work if it keeps failing, and already by holding onto the drive I've allowed the warrenty to expire... (20+ gig drive... not small, but by today's standards a relatively painless loss.) I also dont have the time or desire to work on this, but I know how important it is to everyone out there... In regards to my "grumpyness" last night... There were 2 posts titled '.' which were 100% useless... nothing in them until they started to take shape... I then posted regarding them as well as commenting after it started taking shape that the direction it took was perfectly fine with me. I DO NOT LIKE SPAM. Can I be anymore clear on that? Anything that simply wastes BW for no reason what-so-ever really sets off my diaper rash. I'm not saying, no "babe" posts or no "joke" posts... I am saying total BS posts are driving me nuts... (That includes, "raise yer post count here" along with the empty posts we sometimes get. Finally, cut the petty poking at each other. Nobody is above anyone else here and nobody gets special treatment. I allow everyone to respond to attacks and then ask they be stopped when I catch those types of threads. So CUT THE CRAP! ]=) I also have no problem with a member only forum, I've just felt that most members don't want another split with the GD... so my question would be what would be the point of it? If there is sufficient NEED or DESIRE, I can drop one in immediately. (Takes 2 seconds!) Perhaps start a thread for members to discuss and see what the verdict is??? My goal is not to piss anyone off, it's merely to try to curb some of the pointless bickering and arguing about who has more posts, who is what posting rank, etc... The EE is being reworked, so post count will not even be an issue there since it wont exist... user histories will exist as will comments per sale and feedback for EVERYONE who uses the system. ]=) |

Don R, I made the remark to anti jokingly in reference to the times he likes to take cheap shots at my for no reason. He choose to respond by being a prick. This comes as no surprise considering the source.
Even though I as saying it jokingly anti just proved again that he does not care about the members and considers himself better than them and not held accountable to the rules here. It is appearant based on your post that you to do not think he should be held to the same standards as a lowly member. No, I do not think I will be editing my post in any way. Perhaps you should suggest he edit his since in it he insulted damn near everyone on the board that has mentioned or supportered the return of the post count. anti, we all know that it can be located by clicking on the members profile. What part of pain in the ass do you fail to understand? We know they bright boy. We don't like having to do it every damn time we would like to know. Date registered is 100X better, especially when dealing in the exchange.
Hell. I've racked up 250+ posts in the last week (I hate not being a "Senior Member" when I no doubt have more posts than anyone here)- But seeing when someone registered tells how long they have been around- where the post count only tells you how many times they posted. Like I said. I've posted more in the last week than most people post in a year- so I like the Registered date better than the post count. |
