Lord you guys, we sure have come a long way since I was born. When Lucille Ball was pregnant with 'Little Rickey' on the I Love Lucy television show, the very same year I was born - 1952, the censors would not prevent any mention whatsoever of the 'fact' that she was pregnant.
The characters were not allowed to make any but the most oblique references to Lucy's pregnancy!
No words or phrases such as 'expecting', 'with child', 'in a family way', 'knocked-up'[:D], or anything similar were permitted!
But, my-o-my, look how progressive we have now become. We could actually show the very events leading up to Lucy's pregnancy on television these days!
And of course this means we've all become quite sophisticated and mature in handling these delicate issues, right? Yeah, right! 'Show us your tits' has replaced 'Howdy, Neighbor!'
BTW, when Little Rickey was born, did you notice how much he resembled the Ricardo's Landlord, Fred Mertz?
'Lucy, you got some 'splaining to do!'
