I'm hoping somebody here can help me out. I'm running a dual p3 750, Windows ME (going to upgrade to XP Pro to take advantage of the 2 processors), 512mb SDRAM.

The problem is that whenever the CPU works AT ALL the sound starts skipping horribly. It makes absolutely NO difference what system resources are left...it's usually at 55% or above. I've shut down all programs, but when I open a window it still does it. I've updated the drivers for the card (Yamaha), but it made no difference. I'm about to shell out the cash for a new card since this is driving me crazy. Any ideas for a fix before I blow $100 that I need for other things?

Oh, and it makes no difference what the Audio acceleration is at either.

Try theses in any order and combonations;

Remove the 2ed cpu,
try the souud card in another slot,
in the BIOS try to asign a IRQ to the slot that has the sound card,
in the BIOS turn off 'Power Mangment',
reseat all cards, memory and CPU,
remove all other cards (except video and sound),
disconect all drives, except boot drive.

And Win2K Pro will do 2 CPUs also.

If that don't help, BUY AMD!

Wasn't my choice...it's a workstation I got from work FOR work. But my other comp. crapped out, so I put everything on this comp.
