Just looking thru their site and on the front page was their new rifle, the 24" heavy fluted barrel with flat top and free floating handguard.  Anybody heard about it yet?  Any opinions?
Thanks,
Ice

NO, this barrel is NOT chrome linned!  This is the same type of chrome molly barrel used in the DCM rifle with a heavier profile (like the DCM barrel) only longer!

There was a post on the Bushmaster forum asking if Bushmaster will sell just the barrel and they said they might at some time in the future.  I couldn't get them to commit to eventually offering one of these in a pre-ban configutation but perhaps someday!

Great looking target rifle!

I am interested in any feedback on this rifle also. I've been thinking about gettting one, but have been debating the chrome vs. stainless barrel topic with a friend. He believes the chrome can not be nearly as accurate as the stainless. What do ya'll think ?  [?]

Quarterbore, thanks for posting the link. Now should I get the complete rifle, or wait for an upper [>:/] ? Do you have any idea what the complete rifle is selling for ?

Here is a review of the same gun....

I know I am quite serious about one of these myself!  I am just have too many dreams and too few dollars to realize them all at the same time!  As for buying the complete gun or waiting for the upper, that depends on how patient you can be!  I have a DCM/CMP upper what I can mount a scope onto with a Delta Cheek piece so I can waite for the upper plus my lower already has a Jewell and other extras!

Look at the last link to see how this upper shoots....  That should impress just about anybody!

I have a question about the heavy barrel ARs...

When you shoot the heavier bullets, say 70 or 80 grains, do they end up being loaded longer than will fit in the magazine, or are the bullets seated deeper in the case so they'll feed?  (this is of course if you handload, which I do)

The 'gas block' on the bbl... does this cut off the gas, thus stopping the bolt from cycling?  I would guess this is what it does, and if the case OAL is longer than will fit in the mag, you'd have to single load rounds anyway!
