For me it was right here, Lordtrader posted a message "World trade center hit by airplane" and a link to cnn, I turned on Fox News just to watch the second plane impact.
So years from now when my grandkids ask where I was, AR15.com and Lordtrader will live on...... |

Same here. I usually check Fox News website before I go to work, but that morning I couldn't log on. So, to check to see if my internet was working I checked here and saw LT's post.

saw it LIVE when the second one hit. i was "HOLY SHIT that plane just slammed into the WTC that was no accident"

I was running late for work and my mom called my house. She called my cellphone first, which I was trying to find when she called the house and first asked me why I wasn't at work and had I seen what had happened in NY. Then I turned on the TV and it all got surreal there. Still kind of feels that way.

For me, I was standing on my rooftop watching the first building burning and smoking when plane #2 hit.

When our plane bound from Logan airport landed in Toronto instead of Denver.
The pilot let us get on our cell phones and find out what happened. What was really spooky is we had two Arabic guys on our aircraft sitting apart and neither asked what was going on. It was wierd getting news by cell phone. |
|
On my way home from work I heard a report of a plane hitting the WTC. I thought maybe it was someone in a Cessna or other small plane doing flight training. Got home and turned on the TV and then the 2nd plane hit!!! I knew then that something was going on!!!

Of all places, I was at monthly Firefighter Training. We were going over one of the new pumpers, when they stopped training to inform us that Terroist activities had taken place in the United States. Needless to say we went to a heighten state of security.
We had a Fire call yesterday in the Refinery, and while we were on scene fighting the fire, the only thing I could think about was the Firefighters that had given their all at the WTC. GIB [sniper] |

A guy I worked with a year ago woke me up by calling me to ask if I had a gun I wanted to sell- 10 minutes later, my friend James came over, asking if I had a gun I wanted to sell.
I knew something was up. He told me. |

Was in the air at the time flying to northern Wyoming. We were told "due to an FAA emergency, you are now cleared to Casper, WY". This was not our original destination and I got to stay in wonderful WY for 3 days and cool my heels.... Heard about the attacks from my passengers who heard a brief bit on the news before we took off from Denver.....

Sat down at the computer with a cup of coffee, and logged on to AR15.com. Don't remember who's thread it was, but clicked on plane hits World Trade Center. Read for a minute, then turned on TV. Watched in stunned disbelief.

I was at work listening to an AM all sports radio station. One of the hosts broke into the sports talk to say a plane had just crashed into the WTC. The hosts were discussing how an accident like that could possibly happen with an airliner when one of them said "Oh my God!", he was watching a TV with the sound turned down and saw the second crash.
From that point on, they went from sports talk to watching Fox, CNN, and MSNBC with the sound turned down and relaying what was happening over the radio. About 20 minutes after the second crash, they reported an explosion at the Pentagon, and that the West Wing of the White House was on fire(?). Chills ran up my spine, and my heart was in my throat, I decided it was time to leave work and get the family gathered together at home where all the supplies are, and hunker down until we knew for sure what the hell was going on. |
|
I was watching the Today show and having breakfast with my daughter. I saw it from the time they broke in with the first report.
|
|
My wife went to work early, so I had slept a little late.
I turned on the TV, turned down the sound and went to CNN and I saw the first tower burning. I thought it must be a commercial for a new movie or something. Then I switched to the local NBC affiliate and I saw the same thing. Then I read the scroll at the bottom of the screen and realized what happened. I flipped over to Fox, and just as I turned up the sound the second plane flew into the second tower. I sat in stunned silence and watched it burn and the replay for the next 20 minutes. Since I was the watch officer for the command I had the assistant SDO call the Co and the XO. I'll never forget that day. |

Being unemployed, I was up, just finishing a session at ar15.com at 5:30 AM PST or thereabouts, was about to start my porn download session and then I heard it on the radio. So I logged back on to ar15.com and saw Lordtrader's post.

i was sleeping and my stepmother came in saying wake up and open your window one of the twin towers is on fire. looked out the window and saw smoke billowing off the first (north) one, was taking my morning leak when the second plane hit and i realized it was not an accident (i had mentioned the ESB accident of the '40s) was looking at the tv when the south tower began to fall and saw the smoke billow out all over lower manhattan and was watching with binos when the second one went. I live in queens on a hill and can see the arc lights illuminating the smoke there still. was in manhattan last night and there were a lot of police keeping cars from going downtown (was in chinatown) took some pics with some cheap disposable cameras and when i get them back i'll scan and post them somewhere.

I was driving from Atlanta, GA to Charlotte, NC that day for work. I pulled into the parking lot at @ 10:00 a.m. I had been listening to cd's so I had no idea what was going on. When I got out of my car a guy said, "the World Trade Center has been hit by two commercial airliners!" Of course I didn't believe him until I went inside and saw it for myself. The reality of it all didn't really hit me until later that night in my hotel room.

I was on my way to work. Juggernaut and I were listening to the local news/talk radio as we do every day when we drive in together. The first plane had already hit about 5 minutes before we had left the house andturned on the radio. I looked at Jug and said "there's no way that's an accident"
While continuing to listen to the broadcasts we heard the live report of the 2nd plane hitting and I looked at Jug and said "Islamic terrorists". Went to work, got the business started for the day and then returned home to watch the collapse of both towers and pray with my tearful wife. |

I was fixing breakfast for Miz Hun, when my brother called me and said that a 'small plane' had apparently hit one of the towers at the WTC. I said 'no sh|t' and turned on Fox News.
I was watching Fox News coverage, and thinking to myself, 'well it doesn't look all that bad'(!), when the second plane hit! 'Whoa, that's not supposed to happen!' Of course, I along with everyone else in the world realized at that moment - this is no accident! I sat and watched in utter horror for the next couple of hours, then logged onto AR15.com and posted 'The Day The Earth Stood Still', which is still the phrase I use to myself for this time period. I am not certain when the earth began to spin again, but it was, it seemed, a very long time. It seems a very bad dream that we will all wake up from day and look at each other, amazed, and say 'You know, I had the strangest dream...' Eric The(RunningOnEmptyEmotionally)Hun[>]:)] |

I woke at 7:45 AM CST. I went out to the living room and flipped on the TV which was still on CNN right as they broke in talking about the first plane. Then right there on TV I see another plane flying close and I'm like "WTF is that moron doing ?" Then it looked from the angle like it passed behind the tower then I saw the fireball and they said it hit it. I got AR15.com and began posting to the topic titled "Plane Hits WTC" or something like that. CNN for a while was saying there must be some kind of radar problem for both of those planes to do that then Bush announced he was going to speak and everybody who didn't have a clue yet realized it was an Attack. The following hours were horrible. As soon as I began hearing about emergency powers I ran down to my local gunshop and purchased my very first evil "Assault Rifle" to supplement my 12 Gauge. The TV in the gunshop was on as the towers collapsed. I saw the collapse while buying a gun. The guy on the radio was saying that the Capitol had been hit, then the Supreme Court had been hit. For a while they were saying 12 Hijacked planes were still in the air. Rumors were flying faster than a Girls Bathroom at a High School. I got back and saw the towers collapse. I saw Bush speak. I recorded it all. I watched all day and recorded for 30 Straight Hours, first on CNN, then MSNBC, and finally I found Fox News who I can semi trust. Everything played out and I didn't go to class at 1 PM. I got a call from my mom before my 6 PM class and I checked and classes were cancelled at Noon so I didn't miss anything. She said some of her co-workers were going crazy thinking the World was ending. And these were liberals who think were nuts.

A friend of mine called me at work when the first tower was hit (I got to work early that day). We discussed it and I knew it was terrorism right away given how clear the weather was. My first reaction to him was: a hell of a lot of people in the Middle East are going to have to die over this.

The end of 3rd period social studies class. A teacher came in when we were writing an essay and started talking to my teacher about it; apparently he knew 1 plane hit but not a second. (this was at aprox. 9:30). I was in the front of the room so I heard him talking and then he told us. went to 4th period and didnt hear anything new. Went to 5th period and my teacher was crying and saying it was like pearl harbor. up until then i just thought it was an accident w/ a private plane. After school I ran home 1 mile and watched FOX news till midnight.

Just got to work turn TV on [:|]
Still wish to this day i would have just left it off. |
|
I was walking into the base when another operator came out and said the WTC had been hit by an airliner.
I went in to see the TV in the bullpen and there were a lot of other operators in watching when they showed the 2nd plane hit. The rest of the day was kind of a blur after that. I had the same kind of sick feeling as when I came to work 3 years ago and someone on the way out told me, "one of our buses just went off the Aurora Bridge." |
|
I work at home, had gotten up about 8am PST and had a waiting ICQ message from the guy I work with. "Have you seen the news?" Since we're in the tech industry, I figured it was some sort of business news with Microsoft. I tried to get to Foxnews.com and couldn't, then tried CNN.com and couldn't get there either. Puzzled, I tried news.com and saw an alert at the top that a plane had hit WTC. I figured it was some sort of accident, so I grabbed some breakfast and then turned on the TV.
I felt sick the rest of the day, and even though I had work to do, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I spent most of the day watching the news, reading ar15.com and keeping Sfoo apprised of the developments since he was at work. I left home about 3pm to try to donate blood but the place was packed. Picked up Sfoo and went down to the bar to watch the news since he doesn't have cable. |

Then this might taint your impression of me when you find out what I was doing prior to me posting. I have my TV set to automatically go on @ 6:00 am every weekday morn and auto tuned to CNBC, so the TV had been on for awhile. Basically I was just kinda tuning in and out while half asleep. So I wake up and catch something like " a plane hit the WTC tower....blah blah blah" So I stop scratching myself and actually open my eyes and pay attention. After a few minutes, I compose myself and grab my laptop and post. Cause it was my duty to inform you guys. [:)] Then I go do my triple S (Shit/Shower/Shave) I only get to the first S when I hear that the second tower has been hit by another plane. I had to go to one of my temping jobs that morning so I missed about an 1hr of the coverage. Then I found out that the Pentagon has been hit too when I got to my temping gig. There was basically no one working so I hopped on the puter and got on the chat room here. Guess I always knew I'd be famous for something. I'll take posting on a message board about an infamous historic event as my claim to fame. BTW I think that thread was the fastest growing thread in the history of this board also. |

My 3 week old had kept my wife and I up all night, and we had just gotten to sleep at like 6am. She woke up again, around 8:30am central time, and I turned on the TV, only to find all this news. Video after video of that second plane crashing the WTC. A few minutes later, news about the Pentagon, and then 45 minutes later, I watch both of the towers fall. I don't believe that will ever leave my mind.

Got out of bed, turned on the computer and tthe t.v. like always, watched the second plane hit the towers.
It was before 6 a.m. here. ruined my whole day, week, month, etc. |

My mom comes into my room while I am sound asleep and wakes me up by telling me, "you're not going to believe what happened". She wouldn't tell me what was going on but insisted that I turn on the T.V. Like most, I wish I had never turned it on. I witnessed the second plane hit, and then just sat there dumb founded as the trade centers collapsed. Worst nightmare comes true..........

I was working in my office (1 block from the White House) doing something, ie loading up computers with Ghost. I went out of my office to talk to my boss and a lady grabbed me and said to help her setup the big screen tv in the conf room. 2 planes had hit the World Trade Centers. I was dumbfounded. Figured one might have been a general aviation small aircraft but two. doh. We setup the tv and saw the replay of the 2nd plane hit. I watched for about 10-15 minutes then I went to my office. After a few minutes my mother called and said the pentagon blew up or something to that effect. Woh, its getting close to me. I ran up to the Tv to verify and the secretary to our Director said the White House was evacuated and everyone go home. I left work around 9:50 and saw a ton of suits (from the Old Exec office bulding) milling around outside our building. It took about 30 minutes to get over the Potomac (bumper to bumper traffic and people walking every which way) and we drove Rt 50 right next to the Pentagon. Black smoke and fire everywhere. Helicopters flying around and F16's buzzing around like mad hornets. Heard reports (rumors) that a bomb in a car next to the State Dept blew up and something about the Capital. Got home 30 minutes later and watched TV all day long.

The night before I was watching Monday Night Football and getting into a general pissing contest with seamusmccoi about the merits of Colt v. non-Colt telescoping stocks. We threw a few amusing bricks at each other and eventually I went to bed. When I woke up the next morning I first wanted to see if seamus had had any further "words of wisdom." I saw a whole slew of posts about WTC and turned on CNN.
Like somebody said, "AR15.com. You hear it here, first." |

I was at work when a buddy of mine called to see if i had heard the news. Went and turned on Fox News. Work just stopped for a couple of hours. My boss even said that he didn't even feel like working! (He a workaholic!!!)
We were talking about all the news "events" that happened at work. The Waco fire, OJ trial, bombing of the destoyer Cole. |

I was home and my sister called me from her Morgan-Stanley office in Jersey City in tears after the first strike. She worked in WTC 2 until mid-April and still had colleagues in the building. I turned on the TV and we were both watching when the second plane hit her former building and she completely lost it. We talked a bit longer and then I lost the TV signal. Luckily channel 2 stayed on the air.
Ultimately, all of her colleagues were able to evacuate before the second strike contrary to what they were being told over the WTC PA system. Our church lost two members who worked on the 104th floor and the father of one of my mothers students, who worked for Cantor-Fitzgerald, died there as well. I put my flag up around 9:30am that morning. |
|
Driving to work and heard it on the radio. I thought the two morning guys were joking, but I started scanning the channels. Then I picked up a live broadcast of ABC news, just about the time the second plane hit. I'll never forget that feeling. I don't think any of us will.

Needless to say i did not get much of my job done after that.Im in an area near langley air force base and norfolk naval base so lots of people were worried about attacks on our military. I have heard that for as long as you live you will remember what you were doing the min.you found out what happened.

Well, I was getting out of the shower, (had a late start), and my cell phone had a message from my fiancee to turn on CNN NOW!!
Turned it on, saw the carnage in NYC, and then heard our condo's windows shake (we are 2 miles from the Pentagon). I looked outside for the storm clouds, there weren't any, and then 10 min. later CNN came on and said the Pentagon was just hit! I called the fiancee (who works in D.C.) and told her to get the HELL OUT OF DODGE....NOW!! Bulldog Out |

I was studying for my Chem E class, and decided I needed a break, so I logged onto www.freerepublic.com and saw the first topic was something like "Airplane hit WTC". I got the TV program (I have a TV card in my computer) running just in time to watch the first replay of the second plane impact.

I got off work at 07:30 Mountain time (2 hrs behind Eastern) and turn on the radio when I get in the front door. After a moment I think WTH?, why are they playing the news instead of music. The news doesn't come on 'till 08:00.
Then I listen a little closer. WTF!!! I fire up the computer and try 3 or 4 news services and can't get on to any of them. So I came here. Sure enough someone, LT, had a post going already. So I stayed here and listened to the radio until I noticed my neighbor was home from work. I went over and watched the news on TV until about 14:00. Then called it a shitty day and went to bed. |

Sitting in one of my networking classes in a community college next to the only Int'l airport in the state, I get a message on my 2-way pager from my police officer uncle that we're in the middle of the largest terrorist attack in history...or something along those lines. I send back, "yeah right quit messin with me I'm studyin for a test". See, we always BS with each other on those things; no to mention the fact that we're always discussing SHTF scenarios. His reply is " no shit, a plane just crashed into the world trade center and they blew up the pentagon". Still I couldn't believe him..." man stop this shit, it aint funny". Then, "I'M NOT LYING". I try to access the internet, with a T1, and I can't get CNN or any other site loaded. Then a girl in class says " my mom just sent me a message sayin a plane hit the world trade center or somethin". Then I turned around and said out loud in class.."somebody get to a news site NOW, somethin's goin on". Of course the instructor, who reminds me too much of Mr. Rogers, says "class, you need to calm down, you've got a test remember". I said " to hell with a test, our country is bein attacked". Well, he shut his face after that. Finally accessed Ar15.com and saw the posts. Shortly thereafter got on CNN.com. My heart was in my throat and my palms were cold but sweating. I debated whether to go ahead and leave school or not. The asshole made us take the test and I failed it.
I had a 2 hour gap after that class so I went to my truck and called my uncle, he filled me in on what was goin on. He started talkin about people jumping off the towers and said he was almost to tears ( something I could never imagine him doing). I told him if anything else happened I would be heading that way ( which is where I will go if the SHTF). Went back in the school and watched CNN. The second plane hit and it was just surreal. The 30 people in the room just stood there silent. We were watching, discussing the other rumors on the news, when the towers fell. The rest of the day I just felt numb, but also very aware of things going on around me. I'll never forget that day, none of us will. It was too outrageous to be a nightmare; but we all hoped it was. |

I was getting ready for the second day of a tactical officers school, waiting on my friend to get out of the shower, when his wife called and told me to turn on the TV, that a plane had just flown into the WTC. I was half asleep, and telling her she must be mistaken. Finally turned it on and was stunned. Watched the news until we had to leave. When we got to the range, everyone was in a somber mood, but we carried on with our business.

Was sound asleep, 79 year old dad called and said, "turn on your TV, NOW!" Took a second to rationalize it may only be the start. Loaded 20 M1-A mags, (in addition to other things always at the ready), went to gas station, called off work. [pissed]

Laying in bed sleeping I recieved a phone call from a lady friend, the first words out of her mouth was "A plane just flew into the WTC."
I quickly turned on the tv and probably in less than a minute witnessed the second plane crashing live right before my eyes. Undoubtably the most chilling thing I've ever experienced in my life. Like most Americans I sat and watched the tradgty play out over the next few hours feeling the shock, and horror of the what many have feared might happen but hoped would never happen. Probably like most here, the attack on the civilized world only seemed to afferm the feelings that I've had especially strong over the last year or so that the world is going to hell in a hand bag. I would guess that's why most of us are armed and ready willing and able to defend our country, home, and families. |

Sitting in Cincinatti Region Toyota Motor Company Technical training classroom for 2002 Camry and a fella's cell phone rang, he left, came back in and said the WTC and Pentagon been hit.
