Mine is a Marlin 336 .30-30 with Weaver K4 scope, and a butt cuff with 10 extra rounds.  It's sitting in the trunk in a hopefully unobtrusive soft case.

Anybody else give in to the urge to keep a SHTF rifle/shotgun in their car?  Observing all local and federal laws of course.

AR-7 makes a fantastic truck gun. Has been in mine since I got it. The ability to keep a loaded mag in the stock and out of the receiver is nice. I keep in in my footlocker with all of my other toold for use on the road. The Winchester 1300 defender in under the back seats, but that's not it's permanent home. Very legal in NH, heck, I could leave them loaded if I wanted. In Mass, well, I try not to get pulled  over...

Nothing at the moment.  I can't decide whether  my "main battle weapon" (BM Dissipator) or my "tactical sniper rifle" (Winchester Mod70 VHB in .308Win) would be most useful to keep behind my pickup seat.

I live in the state of Illinois. Can't have a weapon in your car unless you are heading to a range or other approved place to shoot.

Plus I work for a school district, and we're gun free! [BD]

I can't keep one in my car because I drive on campus weekly. It's gunfree so I don't have to worry about criminals or terrorist having a gun on school grounds. [rolleyes]

Kind of hard to keep something in a JEEP.  No such things as locks and people browse all over your jeep when you are not around.

I am a student a UNC greensboro. I have considered taking it before but I don't want to get my CCW taken away or get expelled.
Man it is hard being law abiding.

What sucks is that I checked the laws in Florida and it says I can carry a firearm in my car within the provisions of the law onto a school campus. But, when I checked my College's catalog it clearly says I can be expelled even though its legal. WTF ? The law says I can as long as it stays in my car, but the COllege say no.

So, at least when I don't have class I carry a 9mm Carbine. It is compact and easy to use. By placing the sling over my shoulder I can fire it with one hand, but not very accurately. It doesn't have much recoil and makes it easier to repond within my vehicle to threats from outside my vehicle.

As soon as I can find some 3F Powder and #10 Primers, I'll carry my Navy Arms Revolver. What stinks is that only one place in town carries this stuff and they were sold out. I checked online but have no plans to pay $34 in Haz-Mat Charges to ship the little bit of powder and primers I'll need.

Single-shot, H&R 12 gauge, 18.5 bbl, rifle sight. Tactical buck/slugs in buttstock cuff.
Don't have much money in it in case it gets stolen.

That's why I have the Marlin.  I've got maybe $250 total in it, it shoots a pretty fair mid-sized cartridge, it's tough and compact, it can be topped off between shots, and its appearance doesn't scream either "militia wannabe" or "terrorist".

Since I love older Jeeps I always check them out in the parking lot. They do have several nice, steel locking boxes for them, some of which would hold a carbine.

There is a AK in the trunk of my 626 and a Mac 10 ( semi ) in the trunk of my toyota. When I drove a truck I had a seat cover that had a case bult into it, or at least I think that is what it was for.

8 mm M 24/47 Mauser in case, Yugo 8mm ammo from the 50s (kicks like a mule, but accurate AND cheap) in the back of my 2001 Saturn mid-size wagon. I like the roll-up cover for the cargo area- same grey color as the rest of the interior. It keeps nosy types from looking in, and takes away ambitious traffic cops' pretext for searching my car, as nothing's in plain sight....

"But officer, what is your probable cause for searching my car?"

I carry a side folding AKM (with that evil spike bayonet) in my car trunk. It's not really a long arm but I keep my MAC-10 9mm (auto)in my truck. Both guns run flawlessly and I don't have to worry about banging up my AR.

I can only assume all of you have perfect auto security alarms, as cars never ever get stolen or broken into.

I am with SGB.  9mm on me at all times.  no firearm of mine is ever unsecure out of my presence.

Spanish FR-8 Mauser (308 Win), butt-ugly, short, accurate and CHEAP.  Rides in a gun rack on the back of the (bench) seat in my Toyota 4X4.  Live (most of the time) in the desert so reach is important to me.

A really shitty, rusted, entirely functionial SKS folder.
I'll be damned if i'm going to leave any good goodies in my trunk. Here in FL, everything rusts, so I only keep a "car gun" that I don't really care about in the car.

SKS it is.

Ditto, minus the rust.

Edited to add:  I've still got a couple hundred
rounds of the early Norinco steel core stuff
that goes with it.

However, I will be an LEO by this spring, so things will change. (Imagine my trunk with my Oly carbine +mags)

Romanian AK-SAR-3 laoded with 30rds of M193 (for those "stand-off" situations) and Remington 870 Express 3" Mag with Pachmayr decelerator pistol grip and 18.5" open bore barrel, loaded with Remington #4 3"mag buckshot, and topped off with Tritium ghost ring sights (when things get a little too up close and personal).

Getting a Fabarm FP-6 for behind the bench in my truck.  Wondering whether to hold off and get a legal folding stock shotgun. Any suggestions, the Fabarm is sweet but it is long with the 8 shot mag.
