I've got the hankering for an UZI, especially since you can shoot .45 and 9mm with a simple change of the barrel and bolt. Does anyone know of a good uzi forum out there? I need some advice before I dive in.

thanks in advance

The first one are forums, the rest are UZI info & UZI gun & parts for sale websites.

Glad I could help. I'm a big UZI fan myself. [uzi]
The last link I posted, I noticed they have a few .45 conversions for the models A & B for $210. Pretty good price, good enough that I ordered one. The mags are a pretty good price as well.

coltshorty, yesterday I stumbled across a mint 98% IMI Uzi B with a ser. number under 50000. Any Idea the aprox. date of manuf.? These things are very impressive to shoot to say the least. The one draw back I could see was that it was hard to shoot in low light conditions due to the small apeture of the sights. Can you get some sort of rail mount to attach onto the uzi to accept a holosight?? Any words of wizdom??

thanks again

The model B was imported from 1983 to 1989 & the serial number range was SA037,001 to SA073,544. I'm not sure about a rail but I remember seeing some sort of scope mounts on:

Just do a search for UZI & you'll see all kinds of goodies. I can't remember what the model B sights look like but I remember that they are supposed to be better in some way. Are they adjustable??

Yeah the sights are adjustable front and rear like A2 sights. The wife likes shooting it more than I did so I see my consumption of 9mm is going to go up!  I'll check those sites out for more info. How are the IMI demo mags for fit and function?? CDNN has demo mags with leather pouches for a pretty good price. Are they worth it?  I'd love to cut the barrel down and have a sound suppressor permanetly attached to bring it back up to propper lenght.

If by demo they mean used then I would say it's a good deal. Most all of my mags are used, the greenish SMG mags & they work great. The pouches I have I got from:

They have a 2 page add in the Shotgun News with pics, their website pics don't work. Those pouches are Isreali canvas type & they are $4.95 ea. or 10 for $3.50 ea.

HOTDIGGITYDAMN!!! The Fedex truck just showed up with my .45 UZI conversion kit. That was fast!!! I know what I'm doing later today.

The shorty barrels look alot better than that long 16" barrel does, too bad I live in Illinois. The ventilated barrel shrouds make a big difference on the looks of an UZI with the long barrel, you might want to look for one of those.
And yes you will be buying mass quantities of 9mm from now on since you wife likes it too!

I just bought a 99% model A today with 3 mags, soft case, matching manual, and dummy barrel  for $1000 even.  The gun looks like it may have never been fired, I couldn't turn it down.

Is this a good price?

It's funny I havn't looked at AR-15.com in a while and I come today and find this, thanks for the info dudes.

Edited because my proofreading sucks.

I'd say that's a pretty good price.
Took my model A with the .45 conv. out today & it ran flawlessly. The point of impact was about 3" to the right & about 3" higher than the 9mm POI at 80yds. Just wish the hi-cap mags for the .45 were'nt so damn expensive!!
