A friend of mine told me that there is some kind of ammunition you can purchase that has the bullet coated with a very fine "abrasive" (kinda oversimplified).  These bullets are made for the sole purpose of breaking in the barrel on a new rifle.  If what he says is true, this should knock alot of time of the break in period.  Any input guys?

There are some "fire-lapping" kits available.  Takes the place of hand-lapping done on most target quality barrels.  Some swear by it.  Some loathe it.  I wouldn't necessarily call it "break in" though.
