Today at Babbages software i overheard what started out as an intelligent conversation turn stupid. some guy thinks that all violence committed against muslim and arabic americans is caused by Right-wingers. i dont but into people conversation so i just thought about it. 300 people in chicago marched on the mosque. would it be reasonable to believe that all 300 of them were Republican voting rednecks?

Extremist: someone who believes the end justifies the means. is willing to lie, spread disinformation and commit violence against those that are perceived to be in opposition.

this is my defination. whats yours?

so emotion driven people who commit violence against other members of society are extremist right-wingers. what sort of sense does that make? (as if americans ever really made sense) what about the National Socialist Workers Party (NAZI'S-wich is left, not right) that killed millions of people. or the People Republic of China that turns non-violent protesters into hamburger? or the entire cold war with the Soviets. Communism was nothing more than a violent revotionary socialist program.

Giving into base emotion such as fear, hatred, anger; do not know any party affiliation or positon on some political spectrum.

I hear time and time again how relegious people are extremist in their outlook. this is nothing more than just another cause. atheists commit violence and try to manipulate others as well. so the point is not the cause or political position, but the attitude of the person.

I choose to the best of my ability to never give into base emotion. i prefer to think with as clear a head as i can. i choose not to be an Extremist of any type. any sort would be dangerous to liberty.

So tell me what do you think of how anything violent must be Right-wing?

not liking dumb hypocrasy and generalizations lib

Actually, most really ANGRY people I know tend to be liberals.  Most conservatives I know are really pretty mellow.  Look at all the riots caused by liberals.

When was the last time you saw a riot at a conservative rally.  Oh yeah, conservatives work so they don't have time to rally.

I find most liberals to be really angry people who never quite got over high school.

I forgot to add, WTF were you doing at a Babbages.  At least here in California they are the most expensive place to buy software, usually just in the malls.

Frankly, I have never understood why we divide the political spectrum into the Right Wing and the Left Wing, and always say that Hitler was the penultimate Right Winger, and Josef Stalin was the penultimate Left Winger.

It's just a holdover from the French Estates General of Revolutionary France, that divided the parties that way.

The only difference between Hitler and Stalin was that Hitler was a National Socialist and Stalin was an International Socialist! Even that's not quite true since Stalin was in practice a very 'Nationalistic' Socialist! It was only in theory that he was anything other than a continuation of the typical Russian nationalist!

The political spectrum should be divided between the Totalitarians (with Hitler and Stalin together) on the one side, and the pure Anarchists on the opposite side.

If we do this, then all political arguments begin to make much more sense!

In the center of the spectrum you will find the Constitutionalist Republicans.  They are the ones least likely to cause violent disturbances!

Makes sense to me, Eric.

The strangeness of the Left Wing - Right Wing concept becomes even more pronounced when you look at other countries and what passes for Left Wing and Right Wing.  Israel comes to mind.  Likud is right wing and Labor is left wing.  Doesn't make that much sense.

[:D] sure does Eric. this has always been my polictical spectrum.  if you look in some older political science books (some from the 50's and 60's) you might see it. right=less government, left=more government. this seems to be the political spectrum that my "party" uses.

as i have said before, parties actually suck. its better to stick to core principals and ideas. why assign values such as left and right? only to put totaltarian extremes at either side? true anarchy is the only right-wing extreme. im not an anarch. i believe in a constitutional republic with the rule of law. i have unfortunately been labelled as an anarch by some people who do not wish to talk to me.

[argue] is'nt this what left and right wingers look like? they look and talk the same to me. (according to todays political spectrum)

i like shopping at Babbages because they have a seven day return policy. even if you do not like a game, you can just take it back for refund or exchange. you will not believe how many crappy $30-50 dollar games this has saved me from being stuck with. plus their employees have always treated me nicely. i consider this worth the extra $3-5 bucks per program.
