Wholesale Guns & Ammo has the following M-39 Mosin Nagant on sale. I am new to the M-39, so I would appreciate some advice. All the following M-39 are in “Like New Condition”. I am looking for a keeper, which I can enjoy at the range.

M-39 “VKT” $147
M-39 “B” $150
M-39 “1970” $200
M-39 “SAKO” $210
M-39 “1968” $220
M-39 “SKY” $300
M-39 “1969” $360

Which one should I buy?

Please respond in detail.
Thank you,
Regards,
FRIZ

I would personally go for the Sako-barreled rifle.
in the 91/30, they were WWII reworks on older recievers, and probably wont have a bunch of extra or crooked stampings on them ,not sure about the model 38 or 44.
I like the Tula recievers best & older ones even better ( hexagonal reciever )
I cant say as I know a whole lot about some of the others you describe.
I recently bought a few of the $35 91/30 specials from Aim, and they are all good shooters.Had matching numbers and 2 were Tulas (1930 &1939)Other one was a WWII with nasty incomplete stampings.

I don't think you'll find that any particular barrel will tend to shoot better than others.  The war years 39's obviously have a bit of history to them, but are typically in fine shape re bore condition.  The 69/70 models have newer barrels and likely much less use.  Unless you intend to start collecting Finns, the SkY models won't mean much to you.

As I recall these guys also had "excellent" VKT barreled 39's for a bit over $100.  These might be the bargain of the bunch.

All of these are typically great shooting rifles with one of the easier to use tangent sights.
