Can we at least retrofit our existing pre M1's?

All I need is the stock.

It is just a automatic shotgun. I have a Winchester 1400 that does the same thing. Why can't this gun be owned by the public?

It can but Benelli is filling it's U.S. miltary contract (the Marines pirmarily I think)
before it offers any for civilian sales.

It is going to be awhile before Benelli can offer it to the public.  But I can wait.

I see you also watched American Shooter today.
I hadn't thought about getting a shotgun until I saw this one today.
Now, I just have to have one.

Why are they illegal? Do the stocks collapse or something?

Here's the US website, they've got pics of all the things the stock does.  (it collapses and rotates and makes you dinner!)

the 94 ban of ill-fame applys to shotguns. any cool stock (tele, collapse, or folding) pistol grip, and hi cap (over 5 rds) are the ban features. that thing has all of um.

94 ban only applies to semi autos, but how come the m3 is illegal, isnt it a pump?

It's pump or semi. It has a selector switch at the end of the forearm. so it can shoot less the leathal loads (loads that will not function in a semi mode)

M1 and M3 are availibal and still being made for the general public. the diference only difference is the mag tube. Like it was said benelli is going to make civ. M4 5rd mag tube.  folding stock?

What are you people talking about? I was told the M4 and M1 are both LEGAL! Hell, I know people with brand new M1 tacticals with 2-shot extensions they bought over the counter. Is that illegal? I've never heard of any shotguns rules, except on the Spas-12 automatic shotgun.

Since I've not really been all that interested in shotguns before seeing this Benelli M4 I had not idea what the assault weapon restrictions on shotguns were so I looked it up.

Semiautomatic Shotgun that has at lease two of:
1.Folding or telescoping stock
2.Pistol grip
3.Fixed mag of more than 5 rounds
4.Ability to accept detachable magazine

I was looking at the M4 and thought it would be nice with the stocked pinned open and an 8 round tube. Guess it'll have to only hold 5 rounds.

I still want one.
Maybe I'll look at the M1 & M3 for now though.

Just spoke to a Benelli importer rep today about the M4s, apparently about 15 exist in Finland and the dealership i work in has sold 7 or 8 of them.

Benellis have been and will be top notch, but this M4 is just..breathtaking.

HELL, I'll take this too!!!  What a beautiful gun!  Benelli sure knows what it is doing.

But, look guys, to make the M4 legal in the US, you would need to cut down the magazine, and get rid of the sliding stock.  Then, it wouldn't be an M4 anymore.  Tis a shame.

once you make it legal all you will have is an M1 tactical, but with a somewhat uncomfortable not tele stock.

As said above. I don't see the bid deal about the M4's. I'll stick with my M1.
