Former Carolinian here; grew up in Rockingham (the Rock); lived in Hickory area for five years.  Enjoyed being close to Boone/Blowing Rock area.
For shorter lengths of time I lived in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Lexington, Franklinville.
I have lived in Nashville, TN since 1985.

So where in the mountains do you live, Garand Shooter?  I am familiar with most of the area.

That is great country.  Wish I could find a job there that would pay me what I make here in the city.  Would probably be there.
My wife and I honeymooned in Maggie Valley, and one of my best friends here is from Waynesville.

From the Coast.  A small town shaped like a coffin (yes it's really shaped like a coffin) called Arapahoe in Pamlico county.  I live 1/4 mile from the Neuse River.  Lots of farmland and bogs to go 4-wheeling in.  Quiet little town,  I own 7 acres my house sits on.  I've spent Most of my life here and don't plan to do anything different.

I am in the triad area.  I was born and raised in High Point.  Anyone who is interested, Triad Action Shooters Klub (TASK) has an action match this Saturday with classes for handguns and submachineguns.

Can any of you tell me about Roxboro, NC, and/or Piedmont C.C?

I may be moving up there in the next 6 months.

About 6 miles from Lowes Motor Speedway, Concord.

I also spent 4 years in the metropolis of Cullowhee, pre-Wal-mart.

Garand Shooter, I was there '82-'86, I.T. major. First class to graduate in the then new Ramsey Regional Activity Center.  Spent 3 years on the 6th floor of Harrill and all of my time in the Belk building or fishing in Cullowhee creek.

Don't live there, but I was in Raleigh over the weekend to watch the Capitals kick some Hurricane ass.  [;)]

Y'all don't seem to know much about hockey, but you sure do know how to raise some incredibly beautiful women.  My neck is still sore from swivling around so much.  After the game we went to Chapel Hill and got a good look at exactly how bleak the future looks.  [:(]

I was born and partially raised in Tobaccoville, NC which is just outside of Winston-Salem.  I grew up on a tobacco farm and lived in a 150-200 year old house.  My uncle still lives there today.  Why, just about 5 years ago he finally installed indoor plumbing.  Until then it was the old outhouse.

Here's a picture taken about 10 years ago:

Note: anyone that's lived near the hills in NC knows that I'm not kidding, there truly are houses like this that people still live in.

I was transplanted to FL in '75, but spent many a summer back on the old farm.  I have a small tract of land there (9 acres) that I plan to build on when I retire.
