Damn, there are even using FRS "Handhelds". Good, cheap and effective communications.

One question: What's in the tubes on the back of the guy in the second photo?

Even the civilians carry AR's, NO one will take a Galil unless its a choice between it or nothing.

Is this what the US is gonna look like in a few years? (Yamakas excepted[:)])

Yeah, its one of those plasticuff things (similar to the type that you tie wires together with) that are in the pistol grip. Israeli soldiers are known to do that...

What are you bashing the Galil for? Most likely the reason there are so many civilians w/ AR's is because they probably outnumber Galil rifles. Imagine the sheer numbers of M16's/AR's that have been imported into Israel.  I would take a Galil any day.

No matter how many Americans die, I don't think we'll EVER see parents protecting their children with ARs on the playground. The libs will never let go of their "gun free school" zones.

I don't think the German Jews would have thought it either 55yrs ago.  A catalyst of enough magnitude can change just about anything.

schools and playgrounds...two VERY different things.

and i think we will if America becomes a cesspool of terrorist activities against us like Israel is.  you know darn good and well all of us will be protecting ourselves however we must.  i think recent events have made it very possible for the tide to turn back in our favor.  most likely not initially, but eventually.  when we are the only ones who can protect ourselves.  besides, how many of you had anti or fence-sitting friends give you a call in the past week because they were afraid and wanted to borrow something?  it's happened more than once, and if things get worse (which they probably will before they get better) it will happen again.

They prefer the CAR-15 because of it's light weight and accuracy. The Galil is pretty much restricted to units that don't have to carry the weapon. Tankers, and the like. Most likely those too will transistion to the CAR-15, or the M-4.

http://www.isayeret.com/weapons/assault.htm

Edit: I should add, the CAR-15/M-4 seems to be a status symbol over there. The dudes with the AR-15/M-16s are pretty much "non-combatant" nerds.

they all have A1 sights, and ribbed round handguards? is that normal?

The CAR-15 had A1 sights and a round, ribbed handguard. Notice their weapons appear to have the M-4 configuration barrel.

They have a bunch of old CAR-15s and chopped M-16A1s, some upgraded to "M-4" status. And some real M-4s. They really have a fetish for short M-16 varients.

Take a look at the link I posted for more info.

Think they use the LAWS for anti-sniper or anti-vehicle role?   I guess they are not facing any great armored vehicles on a day to day so the LAWS should work.

Anyone know?

We don’t make them anymore and have not for years.  I think we still have a huge stockpile though.

All replacement handguards are A2 style, they don't manufacture the triangular ones any longer.
We had no right hand triangulars in 1988 IIRC>

I think it's been much longer since we had triangulars for shorties.

According to that website, the IDF gets its LAWS from a company here in the US. And we do have a very large stockpile of them. Canada gets theirs from Nammo/Rauffos in Norway. No good against modern MBT's but still good against everything else. The IDF primairaly uses them as pocket artillery against buildings. Still work very well at that and you can carry 3 of them for the same weight as 1 AT-4.

Also there are a lot of RPG-18's floating around, the largest difference between them and a M72 is the writing on the tube is in cyrillic.
