In the Dust of these fell ruins
Lies the skulls of fallen heroes
Empty sockets peer at me
Imploring whispers call to me

“I was young, I did not fear”
“I was old, I did not waver”
“I was brave, and did not falter”
“Tragic duty called to me”

“True to honor, True to pledge”
“Lost in saving those in need”
“Lost in striving, in my heart”
“To keep them safe, those close to me”

“Weep for us, your fallen comrades”
“Cry for me, but for one day”
“Then cry aloud and speed my soul”
“With vengeful cries and vengeful deeds”

“Precious tears are truly wasted”
“Console yourself with these wet eyes”
“Honor us with steeled resolve”
“So future heroes may not be needed”

Faint, the whispers, of these men
Sacrifice most dearly given
“Turn not from us, you’re sorely needed”
The whisper grows, in rising chorus

“Ensure we’re needed, not again”
