I've contacted the Red Cross about an organized volunteer movement to NYC to assist with rescue operations.

Anyone in Western Or Central NY who wishes to partake in this, please contact me.

This is NOT definite, but the Red Cross did say they will contact me with further details when a group is organized. They are in need for medical workers and experiences firefighters and rescue workers so it is very likely that groups will be sent.

It's time for us to come together and show the world what it means to be an American.

I am in Western New York, but my wife and I have a newborn daughter and unfortunately I cannot join you. My prayers go out to the victims and their families and my support to anybody who is able to assist. God Bless

Should be called tomorrow morning with a status update for volunteers.

GB - I salute your selflessness - your parents raised you well. If possible, you need to let somebody know about your volunteer offer and let them know about your political beliefs and association with this sight. You are a good man - be careful.

If you guys up there get called up to go help, send word and I will try to drum up a collection of some sorts, money, food, water or whatever to get to you guys.
Whatever can be done to facilitate you fellas and all your efforts, let me know.
It seems like so little, but whatever I can do to support.

I hope it doesn't sound selfish, but I really can't get away. too much going on. I do plan on donating blood in the next few days though

Everybody get out and give blood.....they need that more than anything right now....G B make sure you post if they want people......so far, no one can get to the site.....a guy from buffalo went to find his fiance, who phoned him from the train underneath the building....he does`nt know if she`s alive or not.....(on the news this a-m) she called prior to the building collapse

According to Mayor Julliani there is more volunteer workers than they can use already so they are not looking for further help.
They still need blood.

Red Cross called EdSr and told him we're on a list of 10,000 volunteer firefighters, rescue workers, and doctors. They also have a large number of new people there today to help.

Seems we wont be needed, although they mentioned that they would call on others when and if they were needed.

Closing the thread.

Keep in mind that they're taking donations now for blankets, food, clothing, etc as well as blood.
