Alright people, help me out here. I have just aquired my third ferret. He's a boy, roughly five monthes old. He's a light brown color with darker brown tips. He has a very light mask. I have two others, a fully white ferret with black eyes named Elvira. I also have deaf ferret that is a bit red and a bit brown, she is named Qwang Jiu (Mandiran Chinese for "Crazy Ferret"). Here's the deal, Name my new ferret and recieve the undying adoration of the millions of readers of this post. Once a name is chosen a photo will be posted to celebrate this monumental event. Oh yeah, as a legal note Readers from the PRK and Hawaii are probably inelligable to participate. Ferrets are Illegal in those states so the naming of ferrets is probably grounds for the ATF and Animal Control to come to your house and accidentaly sent it on fire while ringing your doorbell. For your saftey move to a less communist controlled state.

Used to hunt with mine. Always picked the smallest females I could find and trained them to come to a whistle for a teaspoon of cottage cheese. Would section out a chunk of salmon gill-netting, cover all the holes at a particular rabbit warren, then send the ferret down. What with the females being too small to hold a rabbit inside a tunnel, they would in turn just cause the rabbits to come up screaming out of a hole full tilt... then ensnarl themselves within the netting. An amusing pastime it was... and no lead to clean out of the rabbit either. A warning... keep your hands clean and never never walk around barefoot if your ferret is out running around. Once I had one of mine come sniffing up to my feet when all of a sudden she latched onto the big toe of my left foot! Not only did it hurt like hell, but once tasting the blood... the little bugger just didn't want to let go. Ferrets sure can be cute at times. W

Either "SeaBass" from the movie Dumb&Dumber Or "Cooter" from Dukes Of Hazzard My next cat is gonna get named "Cooter", it's gonna be a sort of play on words and whenever a woman should ask I'm just gonna say that it's the name of a guy on Dukes of Hazzard. I think they'll get the joke all too soon if I just out and name the cat "Snatch"

I have two sable ferrets, 2 year old female named Mischief who I found as a stray when she was only about 8 to 10 weeks old. She is awesome. I have extensive experience with ferrets as pets, and I have never met one that likes to sit still and let you pet it as much as she does. She acts more like a dog. My other current ferret is an 11 month old male appropriately named Mayhem. He is young, and never stops until he falls asleep. I refer to them as [red]DEVIL BUNNIES[/red] I also had a male sable named Ace who lived to be 12 years old.

I'd love to get a Ferret but in California it's considered a no-no if I'm not mistaken. The funny thing is that I've seen either Ferrets or Weasels while out in the fields late at night, see a little pair of glowing eyes come bouncing down the road out of the darkness as it comes towards my headlights. I always wonder what the hell it is because they bounce so much then you can finally make out the body shape and by that time they turn to the side and bounce off into the bushes.

Uglygun,....whatever it is you saw out in the fields, it wasn't ferrets (unless it was a stray, which wouldn't survive for long) There is no such thing as wild ferrets, they are a "man made" species related to weasles, and wont survive in the wild. That is why California's ban is so stupid, it's purpose is to prevent stray ferrets from creating a "feral" population.

Frank Burns. He was always a ferret face. [:)] It's funny how ferrets are illegal in California (like just about everything) yet if you go into any pet store the small animal supplies are dominated by ferret stuff. Took us forever to find a good cage for our rat but there are tons of ferret cages out there.

Agree, a domestic ferret wont survive in the wild (due tot he fact that they have little fear of anything). But there are wild ferrets, several species of the. In Florida we have the North American Black Footed Ferret. Quite a few of them live in the restricted area of the NASA launch site. They are about 30% larger than a domestic ferret.
