I'm in the market for a new rig and the vehicross has caught my eye! I drive 50 miles per day commute so I need something with ok gas mileage but still be very good in snow and ice since this is Idaho. I own a jeep wrangler, jeep cherokee and a 3000gt so the wrangler and the sprorts car are going to be sold to finance this new beast. I don't like the new jeep liberty and would like something that will turn heads like my 3000gt will.

Does anyone on here own a vehicross?  What problems have you had?  What did you pay for yours?

These come with a 10 year 120k mile warranty so if a problem should arise the warranty will be there.

thanks for the input

I own an Isuzu, but not a Vehicross. They are a new vehicle and I don't know much about them.

I would recommend the Trooper. Thats what I drive. My 1990 Trooper(aka Rice Burner) 4-door. 4cylinder, 2.6L, standard trans., 4x4, Navy Blue, manual doors and locks with 70k. Bought it with 60k. I am very pleased with this vehicle. I have only done routine maitenance. Very smooth running car. Averages 25mph highway 22city. Look into the Troopers.

If not an Isuzu get a TOYOTA!

reconxl, thanks for the pic, that is the exact one I'm looking at, 2001 new on the lot for $26000 (awesome price for these). The trooper look nice but I want something different and the trooper is a dime a dozen around here. How has the quality of the engine, electrical and such been?? What type of mileage are you getting??

thanks

IdahoAR,

You might try asking on ITOG (Isuzu Troopers Owners Guild or some shit) to see what the verdict is on the Vehicross.

Try this page out for starters.

http://www.isuzuperformance.com/isupage/suv.html

It looks cool, but I would question your eagerness to spend $26,000 on a vehicle that I can very easily run into a tree, dirt bank or Slow Elk.

The Vehicross was supposed to have excellent handling and all that, but it looks gimmicky.

I take it that something mellow like a Subaru doesn't dovetail with the 'ol image?

Screw it, get a Mitsubishi Lancer rigged out for rallye racing.  :)

FWIW, I am very happy with my anemic 2WD Isuzu P/U.  It's simple, and I can work on most things myself.

Subaru WRX.  227hp.  0-60 in under six seconds. Gas mileage in the mid 20s.  All wheel drive.  Sweet.

Ustulina,[sleep]
went the screwburu route, biggest peice of crap out there, I think Todd from Special Weapons put mine together!!!

I'm happy you are satisfied with your pickup, I on the other hand want and WILL have something different, fun and yes maybe too expensive in you mind. ($26000 is cheap compared to most cars, truck or whatever today) I'll check with the dealer tomorrow and see if they have a tree/dirtbank/elk avoidence system like is on the old isuzu pickups

Ratters, that 3000gt I already own is a 325 horse power, twin turbo, all wheel drive, all wheel steer that get's 20-25 miles per gallon that eats WRX's for appetizers, (they aren't worthy of a breakfast food)

YES! that just may be my next car. I test drove one last weekend and LOVE is what I fell into. I just need to pay on my Mazda for about another year now so I won't be upside down on it.[:(]

I've had very bad luck with Isuzus.

If you get it, Make sure to get the 10 year warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also look very carefully at what is covered under it.
You might be surprised at what is NOT covered!!!

Or you might be sorry.

Toyotas cost a little more but worth every penny. Especially considering the "Down Time" that Isuzu will get you.

Good Luck either way.
But I would rather buy a Yugo or a Ford Escort than another Isuzu.

Caveat Emptor, you have been warned.

This is just my personal experience, YMMV.
