I saw the post about the Houston shoot this weekend and I did not have time to order any ammo and get it here in time.  Where can I get 2-300 rounds for a good price?  Just blasting ammo, not target stuff.  Should I just go to Walmart and clean out their UMC?

If your going to be on the North side of town contact David at "The Gun Store".  He usually has bulk ammo at decent prices.

Call Carter's Country.  They have had .223 in cases with decent prices.  Sometimes it is Blackhills, sometimes PMC, sometimes Winchester.  There are several locations in town.

Academy also has .223 with pricing that is similar to Wal Marts.

Guns Warehouse off of Veterans Memorial, just south of FM 1960 also carries .223 at decent prices if they have a supply in.

I used to use HCC stuff.  I have had a problem with their stuff.  I bought a couple of hundred rounds of 230 gr 45 ammo and
about a third of it had the bullet loaded upside down. It looked like a wadcutter.  It made me wonder about their quality control

DD, I don't use their stuff, but for no reason.  I know a couple of poeple that use it and have not heard of any problems like that.

brouhaha,

You live in Conroe?  I live off of Old Conroe Road, off of FM 1488, just south of Conroe.

Where is The Shooter's Station?  Off of Hiway 105?

I've got the fire ant bait if you've got the time!

I live 1.3 miles up Old Conroe Road (Where the new Chevron Station was built), on the left.  Where are you're parents located?

Check the "Meetings and Events" forum.  I think it is still on.

My son, daughter and I cannot make it.  My son is in his "fish" year with the TX A&M "Fighting Aggie Corps of Cadets."  They have a pass and review this Saturday that I wouldn't miss to save my life!

Yep,

When you turn west onto FM 1488 from FM 242, it is the next stop light.  A Chevron station sits on the north side of the road.  At this time you can only turn right or north onto Old Conroe Road.

It is the second stop light when travelling east past FM 2978.

Hey dudes, me and my buddy have used Houston Cartridge Co. stuff before.  My bud has a registered MP-5.  We bought some of that HCC crapp and had mucho problems with it.  Five rds out of 500 didn't even have primers.  The rest of it wasn't very good either.  Stay away from it.  By the way, I live east of Cleveland in Tarkington Prarie.  Be cool.

You know,

i don't know what happened to HCC.  Jim Butz, the owner, lived in Oak Ridge, TX, he then moved to a new location off of Rayford Drive, west of I-45.   I use to go over to his house in Oak Ridge, and watch him re-load.  I have used many 45 ACP loads from him, that worked great.  I have only purchased 45 Colt for my Ruger Bisley Vaqueros, the past few years, and have never purchased .223 from him.  A couple of years ago he did not re-load .223 but bought them from another source.  I do not know what the situation is now.

Its a shame to hear poor reports about his product.
