Got my cholesterol levels back yesterday...
825 I about jumped out of my skin when the nurse told me. But then she explained that it's due to my wacky liver. She said it'll sort itself out once I get this thing fixed but I should start managing my diet a little more. Still though... 825... dang. |
Are you sure that's not your Credit Score?
Technically, you are no longer a mammal. You are now classified as "butter". |
825?? Your heart is beating pure Crisco at this point, isn't it? |
OUCH, 82nd.
I quit biting my nails, and I am doing my absolute best to quit using profanity. It's hard, but it is worth it. I am so glad to see you are feeling better, bro. Did you ever get my letter? How are you doing? |
I watched "Supersize Me"...
and haven't eaten fast food since (going on 2 years) for your sake I hope that your nurse is right and they can figure this out. |
I dont think the burger and fries is the problem...
that mazola I.V. is killing you |
You have been propagandized, you little head full of mush you |
Roger. I actually think they were checking my cholesterol for blood levels.

If you cut yourself do you bleed sludge? Eating healthy may suck at first, but it will be the best decision you'll ever make in life...The difference is noticeable and amazing. You'll feel much better, have more energy than you thought you ever had, you'll look better, and its actually cheaper than living off of processed crap. Best decision I ever made was to go pseudo-vegetarian. I rarely, if ever, eat meat anymore..... |
ROFLMAO |
I was just kidding about the burgers comment. I've only eaten healthy foods for the past two months. The number is entirely associated with the PBC. |

My wife who is type 2 diabetic ignored her doc's advice on the cholesterol. She was managing her diabetes with diet & exercise. To make a long story short, her triglycerides went to 2500 and she ended up in the hospital for a week with pancreatitis. Ever since then, she's been on 7 different meds, 3 to control the diabetes, 3 for the cholesterol and a blood pressure pill. Ignoring the problem messed her up bad. Follow your doc's advice.

I did fast for (I think) more than that - probably 14 hours. This is just a recent spike due to entering stage 4 of liver cirrhosis. In February is was somewhere around 300. |
I've always joked about being able to check my cholesterol with a candle, but you may have beat me to it. Wow.
825 is off the scale. You need to fast and recheck. Something is not right. Go for a second opinion. After all, it's only your health and life.
I figured that was the case.. |

No need for a sad face - I get a brand new one soon. |
Yeah, since they came out with new guideline for the levels, I had to start taking Lipitor.
Mine was 147, and now with the meds, it is 114. My doctors want it below 100. I eat too much steak for that to happen. |

[Barney Gumble] Uh Oh, my heart just stopped.............There it goes. [/Barney Gumble]
I feel a whole lot better about mine now!
Start eating the Healthy Choice meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner (with a green salad and low fat salad dressing), this will really help. I love eating one of their pizzas for breakfast. |
Holy Cow. So what's the process for you? You said you'll be getting a new liver soon. Any details you can share or did share and I just missed?
Patty |
Wow, you missed that? |
I guess so. Could you please update me? Patty |

+1. Did you forget to fast before the blood test? Seriously, I'd ask for a re-test. |
Is there an update? I believe I've read most of this. Patty |

825? Is that even possible?
I would demand a recount. Make sure they don't count the floating slabs of butter. |
825 is virtually impossible unless you have a inherited disorder. Was it counted on one of those dreaded Diebold machines?
I'm confused I guess... |
Can you answer this, since I forwarded the letter to you and have an interest in you having received it? If you don't lower those numbers we're going to change your screen name to ButterBall |
You must be one of those weirdos who also puts mayo on his french fries.
"Normal" range (meaning healthy, not at increased risk for heart disease or stroke) is 130-220 for overall cholesterol.

82ndAbn is so fat he uses bacon for a bandaid
82ndAbn is so fat his blood type is land-o-lakes 82ndAbn is so fat he sweats gravy |
How'd you manage that? <-- Types with bloody fingers. |

Are you sure that's not your Credit Score? OMG I about spit when I read that! |

i just quit one day. it was back in 8th grade and i decided "well, i'm not doing that anymore" it didnt take any sort of trauma or anything, i just decided to do it. i still nip at hang nails or snags, but i dont bite my nails anymore, and havnt for years |

Your liver produces most of the serum cholesterol in your blood and your diet has very little to do with it for most people. 82ndAbn has severe liver disease and his diet has nothing to do with his total serum cholesterol count.

well, my brother drop dead from an heartattach at the age of 35 years old last March 19. We are all truck driver and most of us are military. I am both. He love to eat fastfood and look where it got him. I told him to stop eating fastfood and start walking a mile or two on the road. He never listen. He even hung up on me the last time he talk to me. because I would not talk to my mother, which was not the case. She was not talking to me. So get out and walk(don't run, have to start somewhere) and eat salads and broiled food like fish and chicken.

More fast food for me! Just had a Carl's jalapeno burger with criss-cut fries last night...mmmmmm. My last cholesterol test was around 140.

The keyword is most not all people. Did you also lose weight and exercise more? You also need to keep in mind that your TC level fluctuates from day to day as well. In any case your TC of 240 is not really meaningful as it relates CAD. Approx. 50% of CAD related deaths are from people who have normal cholesterol levels. I lowered my TC, LDL (bad cholesterol) over a hundred points by eating less carbs, more good fats, more protein, losing weight and daily exercise. In addition I raised my HDL (protective cholesterol) as well. |
