I have read that the .243 Win round is just a necked down .308

So, in the .243 versions of the AR10's and FAL's can you use the standard (high-cap) mags?  Is the bolt carrier/bolt the same on both versions?  Is it just a barrel change? (with some gas sys tweaking)  Could that be done on an HK 91?  M1A?

BTW, what do you think of the .243 round?  Hows the recoil / accuracy / price?

Thanks!

There are a few Armalites in the area and they appear to be quite accurate. There is a fellow here who has one chambered in a 243 Win,  I think it   is called an AR10T I have seen this fellow shoot quite often and he is very good, I have witnesssed .50 inch groups at 300 yards with this particular Armalite. In fact I have a rather nice precision rifle I am going to get him to shoot as I know it shoots way better than I can shoot it.
Have a nice day,Rabon....

The following are 308 based and are doable in FAL's or AR10's...
1- 22/243 (22-08)
2- 243
3- 260 Rem (6.5-08)
4- 7-08
5- 308
6- 358 Win (feed lips in mag need slight massaging)

Last I heard, DSA was going to come out with a .243 FAL sometime within the next year or so.
