Just saw on the news a Secret Service guy with what appeared to be a P90.

That's what they use?
Link Posted: 4/9/2006 7:10:54 PM EDT
Well of course. It shoots those armor piercing, nun and kitten killing bullets. What else would they use?
Link Posted: 4/9/2006 7:13:16 PM EDT
They use them because they are proven reliable.

dont believe me, just watch one episode of Stargate. They still use them in the future.

A friend of a friend is SS. I had dinner at his house in 03 and asked him what they use and he said they're about to get P90s.

That is cool. The video is all bouncy, that sucks.

50 rounds in a tight little package.

Yeah I saw that and you can tell the dog knew he did something wrong as soon as he did it.

Spectre SMG. 9mm/,40 S&W/.45ACP, 50-rnd mags that aren't ridiculously huge, top-folding stock that doesn't obscure the sights, forces air through the chamber and barrel to cool them down (allowing you to use a higher rate of fire/more ammo than normal), quieter than most SMG's when using a suppressor, superior ergonomics to the MP5 and P90 (I'm guessing on the latter since it looks pretty awkward unless you hold it just right), only double-action SMG in the world, 6.4lb, 850 rounds a minute.

Oh, and it has a fold-down forward grip too. So it has the P90 beat on weight, accessories, ergonomics, and the ability for prolonged fire. It equals the P90 in the number of rounds it can hold. It uses ammo used by the vast majority of militaries and police forces in the world, that have proven lethality. Therefore, Specre has the P90 beat.

Apparently, they only sell the 50-rounders to the po-po and the .gov. Civilian version is 30.

Now, if it's just the followers (as mentioned above) then maybe there are "options".

How much does a civilian P-90 go for (roughly) anyway?

I suddenly find myself being interested, whereas for the longest time I haven't been.

The Federal Protective Service (FPS) uses P90's also. I've always thought they look like the type of gun that Trekkies and Dungeons and Dragons geeks would be attracted to.

why? are they trying to ice pick intruders to death? or is the uber tactical rimfire performance round just to make things sporting?

There was a rumor that SG1 was going to start using H&K MP7 and G36s (and I think they did in an episode or 2) it had something to do with backstage contract dealings(Guess H&K wanted to do some advertising), but it does not look like the deal actually happend, they are still using P90s and M4.

BTW if you think the 5.7x28 is a small round. Check out the MP7 4.6x30

Dunno how many were produced, but they'd been making them continuously since 1984 and approximately 2,000 semi-automatic pistol versions were imported into the US before they were banned from import in 1994.

Body armor tends to stop 9mm, .40, and .45.

Armor piercing ammunition and .22 caliber rounds tend to just penetrate and not do immediately fatal damage. Which would you rather take into a fight, a .22 Hornet or a .45?

The secret service is using the SS190 round. In every shooting with the SS190 I can find, it's been 1 shot stops.

Add in that it penetrates IIIA armor and some IV, and you've got a winable package for concealable protection duty.

SS190 is not a .22 hornet.

Your statement is like saying 5.56 is like being shot with a .22 hornet.

Civilian versions go for about 1700 for the long barrel, 2000 for the SBR.

The green they used doesn't really look that bad.

Oh, hey! I'm not questioning the firepower. I just found it odd that the guy would have two, perhaps even three DAGGERS in ready-to-grab positions.

As for hands in the pockets, I'll bet the Prez wasn't anywhere near there at the time. USSS isn't in the business of being sloppy, at least not THAT sloppy.

I'm counting 2 so far, on top of the fifty rounds in the P90, plus the twelve rounds in the .357, before he has to reach for a knife. Pretty hard core to me.

I really am curious as to what type of situation dictates the carrying of two or three knives in addition to all the other stuff, but then again, who am I to question those guys? They've been doing good at what they do.

He's packing at least two extra mags for the P90, and I think it's more like 4. 250 rounds, or just over 8 AR Mags worth. Not bad.

I don't know what caliber that sidearm might be, but I'm sure he's packing 2-3 extra mags. Two knives, and maybe an asp.

Oh, and the super-tactical ballpoint pen.

Now imagine several dozen more like him, with even more firepower.

You'd have to be nuts to try an attempt on The Man.
