Having never been in a tattoo parlor, I have no idea.  Just wondering since my SIL has gotten 4 in the last month.

I think they are a couple hundred dollars.

If you ask anyone with a tattoo how much they paid, they'll tell you that they got a really good deal from a very talented "artist".

The shop I go to is $150 per hour for a custom tattoo (one you design or have him draw)  The ones that are already drawn (flash) go from $50 to a couple hundred.  I have 4 tattoos and they range from $50 to $1300.  The average is about $70-100 per hour.

Well SIL has gotten a bunch of small ones on her ankles and feet.  And one pretty big whore brand on her top of her ass.  All of them custom.

If you leave the house with $100 and stop for 3 pizzas, a cake, and some cookies, you should have just enough cash left over to get a new tat.

You will never know, unless you ask her and she tells the truth.
That being said, if she just walked into a shop around here, your looking at $500/$600 most probably.

It's magic.

Saw one guy a few months back that had over $10,000 into a full-back tattoo or so he said. It was very detailed.

+1

That is very true. I don't have a tattoo and never will get one, but all my friends with tatto's say "this tat would have costs X amount of dollars but I knew the guy so I got a really good deal."

And they all say that their artist is the best ever. "he did a tatto for Kid Rock so he must be good"

It also helps for you to take into consideration the "opportunity cost."  The OC is defined by economists as the price of a produce or service beyond its immediate consumption.

Since tats negatively impact a young person's ability to get hired into many higher paying jobs, a $200 tat could easily cost hundreds of times that over a person's 55 to 60 year work career.

But then, some people (who will not be there to help you make up the losses of income and especially retirement income) think they are sexy.

There isn't a tatoo in the world as sexy as a bucnh of money.

I have 5.  About the only way to get a good estimate is to take a picture into the parlor and ASK for an estimate.  The price depends on a lot of factors-where it is located, colors used, how intricate the design is, etc... It is very difficult to get even a good ballpark estimate because most shops have radically different price schemes.  Prices can range from the $50-back alley prison tattooist to the $250 and up professional artist.
