If it wasn't for all of the great history and landmarks, this has to be the worst place in the U.S.

I base this opinion on traffic and crime.....and given that it's supposed to be in the Mid 30's tonight in APRIL.

I miss Texas... That is all.

Mid 30's sounds nice right about now. It hits about 90 down here in SA already

In the summer, it's fucking miserable up in DC, though.

But yeah, overall I'd miss Texas too.

You don't actually live in DC?

No one lives in DC, everyone lives in surrounding areas.

That's an especially lovely part of DC too.

Go to Adams Morgan, Dupont, Georgetown. Drink and check out hot chicks. Repeat.

I just got finish watching an episode of "This Old House" on PBS station KCET-Los Angeles, and Norm Abramson was helping to restore an old house in Wash DC.

Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

Depending what area you live in. Not that matters that much in D.C.
I lived in S.W. at the marinia where all the Wash. Big Wigs have thier boats.
The area sucks at night
And the local laws say you can't carry .

...lived in DC (Bolling AFB) for 5 years and worked at the Pentagon...great place to visit, but couldn't wait to leave. If I had to do it all over again I would have lived in Northern VA instead...

used to live in N.E in DC, It was a piece of crap back then, but now all of the houses are booming and i didnt buy any since i was a poor college student that time asking my parents for money to buy it .

"You dont need it now son, its will be okay since it will go back down..," The Father says...

*8 years later*

Father asked me " Why didnt you buy a house here when the price was low ? Son, you are a fool"
I looked at him saying this " WTF, you kidding me"

Howerver, North VA is the place to be at, old town and all of that ...

If I was at Bolling I'd feel the same way, but I'm no fan of TX.

Been at the five-sided wind tunnel 2.5 years now, with orders to Montana this summer.

Can't get out of this nightmare fast enough.

Yeah, I like the museums and the history and such, but the only REALLY important thing I've learned here is that I hate people.

Just don't leave the base! That whole Anacostia area is a no-go zone.

Regarding This Old House: that rotten burned shell is the condition of half the row houses in DC.

BTW I am with you concerning DC.

Hate to say, "I told you so...."

...but I did.

I remember telling you not to live on the base, or in DC otherwise.

Nobody listens to the lifelong area residents....

Rent a place in NoVA and you'll like it a lot better -- both of you will. I'm pretty sure.

Best of luck to you Rob.

Big +1 on Georgetown being the shiznit.

If I could afford to live there I might.

DC = Target rich environment for good government/contractor jobs.

Shit... local law says you can't have ANY weapon period.. let alone carry it. DC has the harshest gun laws in our nation hands down.

I happen to love some things about DC. The Smithsonian, the Library of Congress and the National Archives. There's also Ford Theatre, the Naval Museum, the Bureau of Engraving & Printing, the Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the WW II Memorial, the Naval Memorial, the memorial for the USCT (US Colored Troops of the Civil War). Now, as to the politicians, who cares?

Great, Ill be there in about 12 hours.

I lived on Ft. McNair (4th and P St SW) back in the 80's. I like to vist the District, but I prefer living in NoVA. I live out near Dulles now, and occasionally go into the DC to take pictures and wander the monuments.
