Mrs Goon wants one now becasue one of her favorite chraters uses one.

She wants a BHP too....I can get one of those.

Anyone know a good source of Firestar pistols?

Mrs Goon is fast succumbing to firearms collecting.

Nice, solid pistols.

I bought two M45's when Turners had them on clearance.

Might want to try gunsamerica

She wants the 9mm.

I appreciate the input.

I don't want to buy her a boner gun.

I had a Firestar in .40.  Delightful little weapon.
Heavy, yes.  Reliable, yes.  Fun to shoot, yes.

I traded it for a lighter .40.  That was a mistake
that I live with.  The lighter .40 is gone now too.

Whoever first coined the philosophy of never getting
rid of a weapon...  I wish I could follow that wisdom.

I like my firestar in .45.  The first time i fired it i was suprised by the huge muzzle flash but i got used to it.  Before you buy a firestar make sure you can find a reliable source for magazines.  I think cdnn investments has some.  I can't find any mags for my m45 around here.  The gun is real easy to take down and had a bushingless barrel.  You push the slide back until the two index marks near the end of the slide line up, then push the barrelpin/sliderelease out.

Thanks.

I don't imagine she will need more than
2 mags.

She wants the 9mm version.

I like the fact that it's heavy.

She didn't like my Walther .40.

Nice enough little heavy pistols, bad trigger, expensive magazines.

It's a woman.

We aren't talking practicality.

I'll pay 1K to get her a pistol if she wants it, y'know?

Cool.  I'm going there.

I wouldn't have one but, she said if I got her one
she'd do CCW training.

Dealing with Mrs. Goon is a tricky thing.

Well, hell, I had no idea of this author or person, but, hell.....

If what Mrs Goon is reading is gonna get her to request a gun?

I'm not gonna go all crazy face.

Frankly, if you don't have commentary applicable, or ,
advice/insight on Firestar handguns, I'm not super interested.

I have one in .45, Starval finish I think it was called. Shoot the snot out of it and have never had a problem with it. It likes 5.2 gr. of Bullseye behind a 200 gr. Berry RN.

I do know a guy that has one, he claims it to be "very accurate and reliable".

His precise words.

Doesn't help much either, does it?

I have a Firestar Plus in 9mm.  It is a FINE little pistol.  It holds 13 +1 rounds of 9mm.  I have several magazines for it but two hi-caps is all you really need.

It has been a reliable, accurate pistol with many rounds of full power loads through it - factory and reloads; lead and jacketed bullets; round nose and hollow points - digesting them all without a hiccup.

The trigger is a bit rough but has improved greatly with use.  It has not hindered function, reliability or practical accuracy.

I bought a nice holster and spare magazine carrier for them from Brigade Gun Leather.

In my opinion, the stainless models look nicer than the blued if that's important to her.  Mine's black.

My recommendation, without reservation - BUY!

Please remember, my comments above are based upon my use of my Firestar PLUS, not a Firestar.

I wanted one of the 9mm Firestars for a long time, but by the time I finally go to a point I could get one, there were other guns in their catagory that I though would do the job better.

The 9mm is a single action and I believe all the others are DA, so that might make a difference on the trigger stuff people have mentioned here.

Cool little design, basically a mini 1911 in 9mm.

OH, get more than 2 mags, you never know when the supply might just dry up.

Good point.

I'll pick up 4 mags if I can find a firestar.

People are missing the point.......

I'm not getting one for ME....I'm getting it for Mrs Goon.

Mrs Goon wants this as her "Piece"
as is listed in her books.

I figgure the author had a old-school fetish
for guns ..  BHP...Firestar....They look alot alike.

I like them...best buy for the money when they were made.  A side benefit is that if you ever have to pistol whip someone, they would work great...or if you needed an anchor......

I have a Megastar, and would buy a firestar if they were not getting snapped up left and right up here.  people love them.
