I live about 3 houses down from a house where a victim of the 1970's "22 caliber killers' struck their 4th victim, an old man and his 4 dogs in his rural home.

Interesting serial killer(s), if you've never heard of them:

I live in the town that had the first coin operated car wash in America.

Ardmore Oklahoma

The first coin-operated self-service car wash — the facility most common today — opened November 1962 in Ardmore, Okla. The first coin-operated auto car wash system was built June 1963 in Villa Park, Ill.

Edited: i live in only state to have the only Amercian city bombed during WW2.

Boise city , OK  The bombing accured on July 5, 1943, at approximately 12:30 a.m. by a B-17 Bomber.

I dont know the full story on that.

Famous as in locations that have been used in movies?

Well, this is California, you know.

The downtown area of the small SoCal town where I used to live was a prominant location for the TV series "Roswell" and was used back in 1979 or so for a movie called "Hometown USA," which I heard bombed. In fact, several of my friends from high school were extras.

Don't even get me started on greater Los Angeles.

The front steps of the county courthouse of the county where I lived more recently was used in the movie "Tucker."

I watched several scenes from 007 being filmed in San Francisco in 1985. I think it was "A View to a Kill." That was cool.

Anyway, that's just the short list. That kind of stuff happens so much in California that most people ignore it and just hope the film crew leaves before 10:00 PM so they can get some sleep.

This entire area is awash in history - too much to really elaborate on except that it is mostly revolutionary war and civil war history.
Lots of celebs live in the area too.

Famous or infamous?
Richard Crafts lived down the street from me. He threw his wife into a woodchipper. He was a Pilot for Eastern Airlines and his wife was a Flight Attendant. Hence the term divorce Connecticut style came about.  Old Richard has been locked up for the past 20yrs. His kids rode the school bus with my Son.

I live near A New England Patriot...Does that count? He's on the next street over.

I also live about an hour from Newport RI where LOTS of movies are shot...and Providence is 10 minutes away and was the setting for the show "Providence," and many movies. And I was an  extra for a Showtime series pilot of "The Brotherhood," in a scene filmed in Pawtuxet Village, about 30 mins away.

And of course, there's this little bar in Boston that is an hour away, where everybody knows your name....

1) Right down the road is the ice cream stand (The Jolly Cow) featured in several scenes of the movie "C.H.U.D. - Carnovorous Humanoid Underground Dwellers"
2) A few miles west is Woodstock, for which the 1969 concert was named (though they had to move the concert a few miles further to the south)
3) Kingston is the site of the Old Senate Building, a stone building used as the seat of government when the British burned New York during the American Revolution. (Kingston was later itself burned by the British, an event we gleefully re-enact every year)

About 3/4 of a mile from the destruction path of the most powerful tornado ever recorded:  May 3. 1999.  there are tree trunks still standing that are so big around two grown men can't put their arms around them.  They were snapped off about 4' high in the tornado.  There is a tract of low lying undeveloped land that still looks like it was hit by a nuclear blast.

Also the site of the Murrah building, bombed in 1995.

For five years ending last year I lived next door to the Daytona Speedway on Daytona International Airport.  My buddies and I used to walk there for the Bike Week displays.

Now I live near Auburn, NY, where the Seward House is.  Seward was the guy during Lincoln's presidency who pushed for the purchase of Alaska from the Russians, hence the name "Seward's Folly."  There's a stagecoach in the house that Lincoln himself rode on.

There's also an old tavern in Utica, NY where George Washington and Lafayette stayed around the time of the Revolutionary War.  I don't know if it was before or after, but I think it was during a recruitment trip for the fight.  There were some other important founding fathers present too, but I don't remember who.

My parent's summer cottage is near the site of Woodstock 94, Griffiss AFB.  Still smells like drugged up libtard hippies too, after over a decade.  I wonder what the half-life of liberal hippy stink is? Has to rival Uranium.

NY state is history rich, and it is full of beautiful countryside.  But it is also full of liberals.
