I am a bit of a racist but would never hold a person back because of my personal feelings.

I learned a long time ago that people from every race have the capacity for great love or to seriously fuck you over.

I get really sick of the double standards in this country regarding race.  The Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton types using race as a political tool in ways that would have made Hitler jealous, college professors saying hispanics need to kill whites and being taken seriously, rather than fired or jailed, being put at the end of the line behind minorities and women when it comes to applying for jobs.... And how about whole areas of our country being overrun by illegal (wouldn't that make them criminal?) aliens to the extent that people are actually pulling up stakes and moving away?

It's enough to turn just about anyone racist if you want my brutally truthful opinion.

I am amazed that given all the crap we are confronted with on a daily basis that everyone isn't racist.  We sure are lucky our liberal media has done such a good job of convincing us that all of it is good and positive, and how fortunate we are to be exposed to such diversity...

Here is another anecdote on something that I have observed...  I grew up in a small white town in northern MN.  I knew NO ONE growing up who was racist.  The very idea of racism was appalling to us.  Most of us had never even met a black person or anyone who wasn't white other than the occasional member of the local Indian band (I refuse to use the PC native-american label), and they were just members of our community, nothing more, nothing less.

I have noticed that most racists are people who grew up around people of other races or who have spent a lot of time around people of other races at some point in their life, such as perhaps during their military service.  I remember my experience as a new recruit in the USMC.  The black recruits would always form up in little knots during downtime and talk only to each other for the most part.  If you tried to join in their conversation or befriend them they would either ignore you or treat you very rudely until you went away.

They also loved to play the race card anytime one of their number felt he was being "shit on"...  And it was always the whole crew screaming and yelling if any one of their number was teh victim of the slightest hurt, whether real or imagined.

I think the only thing that stopped me from turning racist at that point was that I was friends with a lot of the black recruits when they weren't with their buddies.  I also had some damn fine black DI's...

Now my hometown has had an Indian casino spring up with huge numbers of reservation members that go along with it, while absorbing an influx of refugees from southeast asia and a large invasion of illegals from Mexico.  Suddenly my hometown has gangs, crime, and racism is rampant.

I remember last 4th of July I was home visiting and a bunch of Mexican kids were shooting off fireworks right next to a bunch of families with small children.  A couple of them were even injured screwing around with them.  I don't know what kind of firewords they were, but they were definitely more powerful than your run-of-the-mill firecrackers.  Anyway, I was going to go over and rip some ass and my buddies, who still live in town, held me back and warned me that they were gang members and I stood a good chance of getting stabbed or ganged-up on if I confronted them.  It made me sick on one hand, and really pissed that I didn't have a MN CCW permit on the other...

Of course the local PD's were powerless to do anything about it.  Had they tried to crack down they would have been guilty of "profiling"...

I won't even tell you about the abuses my sister had to endure while she was employed at the casino as a black jack dealer...

So yeah, A lot of people are racist, and sometimes they have reasons for it.  I'm not saying it's ok, but it's understandable.

And yes I would whup some ass if I ever saw someone being attacked or hurt simply because of the color of their skin or their sexual orientation.

I'm not racist.  If I hate people who are isolationist and can only respect people of their own ethnic makeup, then society calls me racist for hating people who hoist the Mexican flag over the American flag.  Society calls me racist for hating people who attend "black only" colleges and events.  Fuck those people.  

That said, I have made friends who AREN'T white who share the same sentiment.  Not all blacks, hispanics, whatever, buy into the ethnic myopia that many people perpetuate.  We are often scorned and called "coconut" or "oreo" or "Uncle Tom".  How is that not racist?

However if someone does want something bad enough, they can have it. My pap grew up on a cotten field, his dad died before my dad was even 10. He and his brothers supported his mom by picking cotten, at 17 he joined the military, when he came out he started his own business where he met success and failure. He now owns a multi-milliondollar company. He built it from the ground up, by the grace of god anyone can accomplish good things in life as long as they work hard.

By their own efforts, most people can accomplish most things if they work hard enough.  Perhaps that is more realistic.

You tell the same way you tell who is in the bottom 10% of a math class; they are the ones who are in the bottom 10%.  

If by racist one means that I am able to see the differences in certain cultures and avoid those that have different value sets than me, and in doing so tend to associate with people of my own color, class, religion etc to the exclusion of said races, color me guilty.

If by racist, you mean that I think that the color of your skin, the area of the world that ancestors came from, the "past injustices" to your ancestors, your fucked up religion or into who you stick you penis to get your jollies doesn't entitle you any fucking special treatment whatsoever, then color me guilty. EQUAL rights does mean SPECIAL rights.
