MV-22 Osprey damaged in mishap

Early March 28, an MV-22 belonging to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Training Squadron 204, based at Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., suffered major damage to its wing and right engine.

There were no injuries to crew members or to ground support personnel. The aircraft damage resulted from an inadvertent takeoff followed by a hard landing on the Marine Corps Air Station New River flight line during a post maintenance functional check flight. An investigation into the causes of the mishap is under way.

Anybody have any more info on this?

Nope, but flightline mishaps happen. Especially when ground crews are acclimating to new equipment. My first boss at the airport was in the ANG when they were flying Sabers. One maintenance guy was in the cockpit dearming the ejection seat or some such thing and put a burst of gun-fire into a truck on the flight line!
