I'm sitting here on a Sunday night savoring the fine taste of Makers Mark, neat.

Am I the only one who enjoys this fine whiskey?

No, I like it too.

If I have a cigar, it's the only thing to drink with it. I dunno why that is. No other whisk(e)y I've ever owned goes as well with a good cigar as well as Makers Mark does.

I wish to get a pipe, and I hope it goes as well with that.

...ever since JD lowered their proof for the second time in my drinking life (from 90 proof back then, to 80 proof today). Paying liquor taxes on water (which I have plenty of cheap) isn't for me.

Bookers!  Very nice, I love bookers, bakers, and basil haydens.  Knob creek is the only one in the family I don't like.  Makers Mark is great, got some in the kitchen right now.

My drink of choice if I've been across the border.  Liters can be had at the canadian duty free for about $16 american.  I like to stop and pick a few various bottles up when I cross the border.

I'm open to trying something else as well.
But I'm gonna do it in a bar this time.
Buying a bottle for one shot, is not the way to go.
I couldn't give it away. I couldn't find anybody that liked it.

I'm not knocking people who like it, just relating my experience.

Yea, because continually lowering the proof, forcing cold filtering (removing fatty acids which add good tastes), you've sure got to appreciate the JD!!

Not.

I'm sitting here in my favorite old easy chair surfing the net feeling restless - and thanks to this thread I remembered I have a bottle of Maker's Mark that has not been opened for over a year.  I will take this as a sign, and go poor me a glass.

Ahhh...

Yeppers - my first sip of hard liquor since February of '05.  I had forgotten how good that felt going down.

I poured a little more than usual - had to empty the bottle.

God bless you, arfcom.

JD=Jack Daniel's. Jack Daniels has lowered the proof from 90 (what Maker's Mark is today).

D'oh!  Looks like some remedial reading is in store for me.  My apologies.

I now see your ellipses were a continuation of the thread title, and that you weren't lumping them both into the same category (even generally).

No reading glasses work properly with the mask, Kemosabe?

My punctuation kept me out of the State Department (no loss) so I'm not surprised you were confused.
