I was looking through the movies on tonight and saw it listed, and watched a short trailer. Anyone recommend it?

Wasn't *that* bad.

Nothing ground breaking or earth shattering to be sure.

Toss out all the assumptions based on the video game (any of them) and just go with it.

LoL..funny I jus saw this thread, Not more than 5 minutes ago I jus watched it on PPV. It is what it is. Ive seen a hella lot worse movies out there. But this one wasnt the greatest. It was way better than FLIGHTPLAN w/ jodi foster, now that movie sucked with horrible story line.

Ranked right up there with Stealth.

Besides, Doom was about demons not genetic defects. They had it all wrong.

Very cheesey, IMHO. The final kill scene turned the screen into first-person shooter mode.

A FEW MINOR SPOILERS BELOW, IN RED:

If you totally forget the premise of the game, it's a pretty entertaining movie. There are no demons, it's merely a special gene that makes you very strong and regenerate quickly, but if you happen to have the evil gene when you are injected with the gene you turn into an imp or some such creature. It's not very badly written, though the story has been done many times before. The FPS sequence near the end (inspired by the game, of course) makes the price worth it alone. If you rent the movie hoping for awesome weapons like the plasma gun, rocket launcher or chaingun, you'll be disappointed, because they do not show up. The BFG has two or three throw-away uses.

EDITED TO ADD: In the special features, Wayne Johnson (The Rock), during training, strongly praises the military, and though I can't remember exactly what he said, he basically said that the military was much better and braver than he. I thought that was cool.

Haven't seen it, especially after I heard that they changed the plot around. I figured it would be another cool premise ruined like the way hollywierd screwed up Starship Troopers

Yeah. The Rock's character was pretty bad-ass overall. He needs to do more roles like that. I mean he was kinda cool in The Rundown and Walking Tall, but not like in Doom.
