I went to the grocery store this morning and as I was loading my stuff into the car this van pulls up like 3 ft away and this guy asks me if I have some change. I just ignored him and mumbled "get a job"

About two weeks ago I saw this guy in a toyota rav driving around in parking lot puling up real close to people flashing a gas can begging for a few bucks. He asked me too. "hey, man I need to get to LA to see my mom cause she has diabetes"

But the angle is they use the car to get as close to you to intimidate you into giving them money.

Next guy that does that is getting drawn down© on.

I usually say "I'll pay you $20 to wash my car". Never had a taker yet.

Indianapolis is innundated with these scum. They are at almost every interstate exit around town. It is the same freakin people, too. They are too f'in lazy to even walk back and fourth. They just sit on the guard rail at the stop light, and hope someone in the first few cars will give them money.
Link Posted: 3/23/2006 9:30:18 AM EDT
Pay them with wads of monopoly money.

It is best to do so dressed in a tuxedo, top hat, and monacle.
Link Posted: 3/23/2006 9:30:31 AM EDT
Try this. Get a pack of 1000 or even 500 blackcats next 4th of July. Light them and give them to the beggar, or just drop them by him. Chances are you won't get caught, and it will be funny.

they above idea may or may not have been tested by author.

ps I have heard tell that if you only open one end just to light it they are easier to handle.

I worked a road crew of inmates for Oklahoma DOC and our area was I44 through Tulsa. There are always a ton of beggars at a couple of different intersections with 10-20 premade signs. They'd buy mouthwash with their earnings and be there all day. Well I sarted parking across the road from them then have my fastest 3 or 4 inmates grab all their signs, run and jump into the van and we'd drive off. Pretty funny.

the ones in the offramps in Miami are all in wheelchairs. I often wonder if they were wheelchair bound before they decided to beg in the middle of a freaking road!

Most of these responses appear to be from the Mid-west to the Eastern states....wait until Meth hits as hard as it has here in Oregon. What seems to be hard pressed begging now will turn down right ugly. Forturnally, some back east law makers are startign to see the light. Beggers suck, but beggers with no teeth and scars all over their face suck even more

There was a beggar in front of a department store with a sign that said he hadn't eaten in three days so I offered to buy him some McDonalds and he told me to go to hell.

The guys at the car wash are lucky to get $8 an hour let alone per car.

Some people are just to dumb to live.

I see them in Anchorage....outside, in the cold, standing there all day long.....In the freezing cold.......In nicer winter gear than I have.

New boots, insulated canvas work clothes, etc.

ETA:

If I get threatened with a vehicle, it is the same as a gun in my book.

Begger: Man can you help me out my Mom is in the hospital and she needs her medacation.

what really sucks is when you already have your hand in your pocket and then of course the bum thinks you are reaching in to give him money.

When really what I am thinking is:

"Sorry dude, but no money here - I just had my hand in my pocket to adjust the volume on my $400 IPOD!"

lol

This joke is 100% stolen from some guy on Comedy Central.

Move along!

One in Memphis intersection was setting cross legged doing something behind his sign. There was a wreck, and I was stopped on the back side of him. Looked down, he was filling out his check book.....

the major local news station here in TX did a special report on Houston Bums in conjunction with HPD.

What HPD said was most are ex-cons, child molesters, rapists (a surprising amount he said) and they've been released, but have been shut out by their family and of course can't get a decent job because of their history. so the "oh man I need help I need to feed" is we all know a crock, they totally screwed up their lives and want more money so they can get drunk again.

ETA: SC-Texas who works downtown Houston informed me that a New Orleans "refugee" bum stabbed a man downtown because he wouldn't give him anything.

Just buy some cheap nasty dog food, take off the label and give it to them.

A few years ago, there was a local story about a property owner who got so fed-up with bums urinating and defacating on his property that he set out some bottles of cheap vodka laced with rat poison (NOT a good idea and this guy DID get caught). Anyway, a couple of bums end up in the emergency room because of this. From the ER tests it is obvious what was going on and the police are called. The police question the concious bum and then advise him that this is why you should not drink from strange bottles. The bum replies (something to the effect of) "Yeah, I knew there was some other shit in that bottle, I mean there was stuff floating around in there but [my friend who got sick on this stuff first] wasn't going to finish it". The officer just gave him a stare.

This was according to a friend of mine working in the ER that night.

They're f*cking all over Dallas. This is one of the big reasons I carry concealed in my car. The worst was when the refuse from NOLA was here. You couldn't walk to the courthouse without getting hassled by the scum.

offer them a bottle of Golden Grain, then bet them $20 they can't drink it all in 10 minutes

im not sure how true this is..but my buddy told me that his wife works at a stip casino. by the front of the casino, there would always be this homeless looking guy with no legs. he would be there from morning till after she left work. She would always make it a point to say hello and goodbye to him. One day she pulls out 20 bucks and he tells her no..that she had always been nice to him and he didnt need her money and asks her to wait for a moment. A few minutes later a newer Benz pulls up. Turns out its his daughter. This guy has been doing this for so long and made so much money he was able to buy a new home in SUmmerlin (its a ritzy part of vegas) and a new benz.

Wife and I went to Chicago, recently - told one guy to leave us alone and he called me an asshole, and handed another lady her homeless times back after she thrust it on me, and she called me a jerk.

Several of the regulars around here have gone from being just "Homeless and hungry" to being "Homeless Veteran".

Everyone I saw today was a "vet" except the one woman regular who told me while I waited for a light to turn a few weeks ago that she, "is an out of work Carny"
