We now have a credit card looking ID with our pic printed on it much like a new driver license does.  It has a magnetic strip and an imbeded chip that when inserted into a card reader allows you to access a plethora of things regarding you and the military.

I look at my wife's pink dep ID card every day.

Why would a dependant be issued a CAC card?

The only people that get CAC cards are those that need computer network access; ie some contractors and all active duty.
