in a combat situation RELIABLITY is LIFE

The AR is damn near as reliable as the AK, although the AK has the best mags ever made as far as robustness goes.  However, it is much easier to change AR mags.  Try loading an AK mag under pressure and without looking at your weapon - the damn things jam in the mag well wrong and are a pain in the ass to get in unless you turn the rifle upside down and do it just right...blah blah blah blah and so on and so forth.  Should I do Glock vs HK next?  Or perhaps Ford vs Chevy?[;D]  Just jerking your chains a little[:D]

if your AK and AR have the same jam and its the worst jam possible -- 2 bullets stuck in the firing chamber area, bolt is stuck back, no going forward or reverse.

which is easier to clear? an AK, just remove the dust cover and clear it

cant take the AR apart until the jam is cleared, and the bolt is stuck back locking up the whole gun, now try and stick your fat fingers into the ejection port and try to clear it or hope you got a screwdriver handy

and then try and clear both guns while in a combat situation

I like both, and have ussed them extensivly over the yrs, but the AKM, well I'd use that or the 74, if I was 'behind the lines' on a covert op, but I must fess, an A2 with a STANAG mt, and a Wildcat scope, would do me fine. Normally, or routinely, I carry a F88SA1 (AUG) with a C79 Wildcat scope, but I'd drop that for the ole '16 anyday!

Overall the M16A2 ca run circles around any AKM or AKS-74.

"who knows karate better than Japanese?!?"

Chuck Norris then beats up the Japanese guy.

Later on Bruce Lee (kung-fu) kicked the snot out of Chuck Norris (karate).

My vote = Kung-Fu

Ummm....  It might just be me, but isn't that kind of a stupid question to be asking on AR15. COM?

It's not like we are going to all jump up and shout "The AK is better!!"

Really folks  [rolleyes]

your right about the AK mag changing. this is why i have practiced alot so i wont have to look.

i grip the mag with my pointer finger just under the lip of upper mags metal face. rake in at a 45 degree angle and then pull up.

at first i fumbled quite a bit, but now it is committed to muscle memory. [;)]

i can reload an AR-15 in about 5 seconds, including bolt release. i reload an AK in about 8-9 seconds including charging the bolt carrier.
charging the bolt carreir is what really slows you down. if the weapon is on my shoulder i reach underneath the trigger guard, grab the bolt handle and jerk back. if the weapon is in a low position, i use the knife edge of my palm to charge the rifle while it is canted inward at about a 45 degree angle.
if the hammer is forward, this is alot harder to do and adds another second or two.

mag changing lib
