what position are you looking for.

be sure to put a range (i.e. 30-35,000 or something).

edit: you also need to determine how much it will cost you to live per year.

If you know what they pay, then put that in. If not then either leave it blank, put in negotiable or if you know what you want to make and aren't willing to take less then put that in.

i'd put in something like $6.00 - $7.00 per hour.

min. wage is $5.15? right?

no matter what, ask them what kinds of opportunities you'll have for pay increases when/if you speak with them.

Safest to leave it blank, or to put something like "wages commensurate with job performance and experience".

If they need a number, figure out what it pays at it's lowest level and highest level and put that range.

Always put Open in there cause if you leave it blank they will think you "forgot" to read it which doesnt look good when your trying to get a job.

Way back when I was getting my first jobs, I would put "prevailing wage" or "current standard" in that blank.

not for long in MI.  It's going to go up to 6.95, and within a couple years it will be increased to 7.40  They are too stupid to realise this is going to do far more harm than good.

The best thing to put in that box is "Negotiable."  That way you don't ask for too much and disqualify yourself as an applicant or too little and work for wholesale.

Hope that helps.

Damn, I wish my last job was that easy.  Instead, we sent letters back and forth for a month, and a 3 page contract with all sorts of conditions was the result.

I always put "open" or  "negotiable" when I was young.
