The Lincoln's a better automobile. It's got more power, more accelleration, more leg room for your legs.

The one's longer gets there first.  That's scientific fact.

Back to the original question. Low miles for its age, no visible rust or damage.
It'll hurt for gas, but at that price, it wouldn't matter.

I don't think the baby blue is very tactical though....

Since you live in TX, you need some steer horns that stretch the entire length of the front of the car. You also need to paint it pearl white with a pink interior.

But that's just me

If there is enough room in the trunk for the bodys you need to dispose of I would say go for it. Me, I drive a truck.

For $1700, I don't see how you could go wrong, assuming the interior's not torn up.

Throw in $750 for a Maaco paint job and a Nuevo Laredo vinyl roof, and you've got a nice barge in any color you want.

Mom and Dad had one of those, an '79 model, with a 460. It was beige. Pop called it Air Force One. Got 12 mpg, had cruise, air, windows, locks, a 7-way seat, and a trunk you could fit all of your guns into - and I mean ALL of them, even if 15 or 20 of them were 88mm anti-aircraft guns.

With mounts.

And carriages.

Driving it was a chore; it wallowed on the road and needed to be constantly prodded to stay in the track.

IIRC, the Whopper never came with anything less than a 460. You only got a 400 if you "settled" for a Mercury or a large Ford instead.

BTW, I can personally attest to the roominess of late-70's Lincolns. A college buddy had one that was virtually identical to this one, except for the color. We used to sneak 5 people into the drive-in theater in that boat - Three in the trunk, and two laying real low on the floor in the back seat. Even had room left over for a couple cases of beer!

I'm a big fan of another huge car, the '70 Buick Electra 225, so if you are into Lincolns then I say go for it. Price is good if it's in as good a condition as it appears in the pic.

The body looks fine from here, if it looks good in person, no serious body work under the paint etc, then the only question I would ask is who did the motor job.

Of course I always recommend taking any used car you want to buy to your mechanic to get an unbiased opinion of the condition and he'll be able to point out potential or underlying problems not easily seen.

Go for it...I love big old boats...

Had a '79 mercury Cougar with a 351 Windsor...loved that car...

Very easy to work on, plenty of room under the hood...

Buy it, screw the gas mileage. Paint it  Corleone black, it's got enough room for guns, a bag of lime, couple of bodies and a shovel in the trunk. Line the trunk with plastic first, get the thick stuff not the cheap thin garbage either. Make friends with the local garbage dump owner in case you need to have any special "disposal issues." Always ride in the back seat. Keep the piano wire hidden with your gloves under the drivers seat.

Fuck yeah, I'd buy it and cruise it around. I used to have a 1969 Buick Electra 225, man that fucker got about 7 or 8 miles per gallon and it didn't matter how I drove it, flooring it from every light, taking off easy, driving down the freeway. Man, I miss that car.
