Yep, a couple of guys with M2's would have saved Middle Earth without breaking a sweat.

I think the same thing when I see movies like Braveheart.

Yeah.  I got in a big debate about this with some nerds at school.  People who wouldn't "talk guns" with you would suddenly come out and get into a serious debate about weapons and placement with LOTR.

Definitely would need the water-cooling jacket on the M2 orc model.

I'd like an Elvish pistol.
I'm sure it would look something like this...

No.  They have Pythons.

You know I always thought about arming the Fellowship but I just don't see Legolas carring a 1911.  Elves seem too dainty for a .45....maybe something in 9mm.

Nope, hands are too small.

Anduril was an elvish sword, built for men.
I bet Aragorn would carry a 1911.

I would settle for Gandalf fighting like he did in the books.

I was watching the newest Harry Potter with the girlfriend the other day, and I was thinking the whole time that they should get a 5th contestant for that tri-wizard tourney, and have Gandalf compete.  He would totally ruin Dumbledore's day.

I see Legolas with a silenced Ruger MkII.
Gimli would have something like a 500 S&W
Gandalf with a Colt Python
The hobbits would be carrying 380's of differing manufacture.

The Ents would of been firewood if Sauraman had an M2 on top the tower.

And for some reason I can easily picture orcs with AK's.

Hesse AK's

ETA: I see the Rohirrim carrying M1 Rifles, M1 Carbines, and M1A1 SMGs for some reason.
Just seems like it would go with their culture.

Theres a few movies i sit back and think"those midevil knuckles heads"wouldn`t stand a chance just even with a M4 and a side arm.Though,i`de like to take Smeegale*sp*out huntin with me.more than likely though,he would`nt be coming back ahahaha

The Rangers would work in 2 person teams.  One would have a really accurate bolt gun.  The other would have an M14 and a spotting scope.

I kinda wondered why...

At the siege of Helms Deep why didn't they have a moat filled with a few dozen of those T-Rexoctopus's like that was hanging around the backdoor to The Mines Of Moria.

Or at least boiling and/or flaming oil to pour on the Orcs.

Or WITF Frodo didn't keep that pesky little ring wrapped in a couple of leadlined prophylactics and secured in a Milspec type pouch.

Or why not just get a couple of squadrons of Eagles together and fly everybody to Mt Doom, chuck in the ring and then kick back have a righteous kegger...

He didnt say how old she is... I mean, they are watching Harry Potter... Think of the targeted demographic....

Naval air and gunfire support.

Oh, all the time.  Esp. Helm's Deep.

Maybe a dozen 81mm mortars and a few miniguns would ruin the Uruk-Hai's day.

No, no, no.  We've had situations like Helm's Deep before - in Korea.  Quad .50s and beehive rounds at point blank range are the most effective.

Mary Gentle wrote a book called ORCS! that deals in this type of idea.  Imagine a couple Brigades of Orcs with modern fire power running around Middle Earth with a curse on them that makes them think they're Marines!  It's fricking hilarious!!

A mixed company of Bradleys and Abrahms.  Wouldn't even need to use the guns except for the elephants.  I'm pretty sure 120mm qualifies as an elephant gun.

Just look at all the crunchies lined up for that downhill charge.

That would be Grunts! not orcs. Just looked it up and ordered it on amazon. Thanks.

Y'all better figure out what happens when it comes to hand-to-hand.

While a firearm will tip the balance in your favor, they have numbers and will eventually get to your position.

What then?

Two of these for me please:

I first read the books back about 1967 & thought about a B-52 Arc Light strike on Mordor. Also, a 16" Carbine would out-fit a Ranger quite nicely while out in the Wilds.
