No its not THAT one.

How does Neil have his rifle rigged with the bungie cord in the armored car robbery? Here are some pics for reference:

The masks are in the style of those worn by Bernie Parent and Pelle Lindbergh when they played in the NHL.

Im guessing its strapped around their shoulders so they can be dragged if they went down.

It definitely is a sling of some sort for their rifles. In some scenes they let go of their rifles and they hang by the bungie cord.

What was in the briefcase? Oops...wrong movie.

Can't check for sure since don't have the DVD on hand... but I think the bungie was used later in the final bank scene for holding mags. Someone check check it... DeNiro had the same bungie setup during the last scene, and I swear he had mags under it.

I met the "TV man" the homeless witness to the armored car job. Had dinner with him, a few months after I saw Heat in the movie theatres in 1996.

He's a Christian, and into motorcycles.

Does it look to you guys like the rifle is attached to the bungee cord with a zip-tie through the sling slot on the stock??

Ziptie in the rear and duct tape in the front????
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 3:09:39 PM EDT
looks like a a way to strap it onto the body and provide tension when at firing stance---kinda like a mamba sling

Got to love the A1 sights on that CAR

I THINK that the the rifle is only attached at the rear with the zip-tie, and that Neil has the strap of the stopwatch ducttaped to the handguard.

I thought earlier on in the scene where Neil was in the ambulance that he had a Polish AK47UF?

ETA also when he pulls out the spike strips across the road he has an AK as well.

That was Trejo in the stationwagon with the AK.

Is he still living under the overpass?

It looks to me like you would take about a four foot section of bungee cord, tie it together on the ends (you can see the knot in one of those pics), and run a lobster clasp through the cord before you tie it.

Hold the cord so that it forms an oval in front of you and take one hand and turn it 180*. Now put one arm through each "loop" and over your head (to form the X in the back). Now run a zip tie through your stock, open the lobster clasp and clip it onto the ziptie. Voila!

They run this same setup in the bank scene because it keeps the "sling" hidden under your coat and it lets the rilfe easily hang under your arm.

Agreed!

I saw the zip tie and the criss-cross bungee and made the same conclusion.

Good catch thelastgunslinger

ETA - I think the duct tape is used to secure the lanyard for a stopwatch. Has nothing to do with the sling set-up.

Trejo was following the armored car in a yellow truck to the robbery location. He ditched the truck at the scene and the whole crew left in the ambulance and switched to the wagon a couple blocks away.

I think the duct tape is used to secure the lanyard for the stopwatch. Has nothing to do with the sling set-up.

..and I think Trejo was driving HIS El Camino right before the big heist at the end. My bad!
