Ok, having tasted both of these beers.........Samuel Adams Boston lager beer out beats Guiness beer any day, what is your take on the matter?
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 11:55:10 AM EDT
Are you high? Guiness is in the Olympus of beers. Sam Adams isn't bad, but it's just another beer.

I agree, (on Sam being the better) but I'm just comparing the bottled stuff we get, not from a tap or from the Emerald Isle itself.....I'll reserve that for the day I travel over there.

I've tasted some special brews of Sam that are VERY GOOD. Bottle beers, I'd rather have a Grolsch or Newcastle.

I must be high...........A new contender is before thee.............and its name is Samuel Adams with a Boston Lager twist.!!! Surely out beats a Guiness any day.
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 11:58:55 AM EDT
Apples to Oranges.

Lager to Stout...

Both a verygood but the crap Guiness imports is not the same/as good as the Guiness you get fresh in the UK/Ireland...

Sam Adams doesn't lick the dripping sweat off Guiness' balls.
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 12:01:41 PM EDT

I would rather suckle warm sweat out of the armpit of Shaquille Oneill than drink Guiness.

They are both fair to middling mass-market brews.

Sam Adams, does however, make some really good specialty brews. Like their new Chocolate Dopplebock. Or their Triplebock. Try them. You will like them unless you are some kind of pussy-boy.

So you say, but if my palate has anything to say, this Samuel Adams beer rules.!!!

Samuel Adams

Probably 2 of my favorite "flavor filled" beers.

Sometimes I get burned out from too much flavor, and settle on Budweiser or some other less flavorful beer for a few weeks.

Not no, but HELL NO.

Sam Adams NOTHING beats Guinness. Ever. Period. End of Discussion. Lock the Thread.

Once you drink Guinness in Ireland you will never again (actually, you will try it once to be sure) drink the US excuse for Guinness. If you have only tasted the US product, you think it is good, and it is, since you have no basis of comparison.

Therefore, by default, Sam is my choice in the US.

Boston Lager is plain nasty. Way too sweet. Give me good amber ale.
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 12:39:39 PM EDT
Crazy talk... apples & oranges..

That being said, I like both beers, but Guinness is my favorite. Can't compare a stout to a lager though..

Sam Adams

Give me a ice cold Yuengling, Shiner Bock or Harp instead.
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 12:48:21 PM EDT
Sam Adams is made from the douchewater of Janet Reno and Oprah Winfrey.

Agree, I like Laegers some days and I like Stouts some days, but I really can't say which is better.

Sam Adam Lager is much better than Coors Light.

Guinness. When you absolutely, positively have to be as much of a poseur as possible.

The amber style itself is supposed to be sweet and malty.

I will stick with my PBR !

I'd rather drink used gear oil than drink Guiness. Sam Adams is the best beer I can afford these days. Arrogant Bastard ale is right up there too.

Just had a bottle with dinner.

Guys who like stouts need to try Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. It puts Guiness to shame (and I really llike Guiness).

WRT to the OP: FUCK NO!

everything beats guinness.. yuck
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 2:23:52 PM EDT
i prefer sam over guiness draft. guiness draft tastes like water to me, no flavor at all. i havnt tried guiness stout that may have some taste to it. for straight getting buzzed beer ive been drinking anheiser bush's hurricane lagers, at 8.1% i do pretty good with 2 24 ouncers at .99 a piece.
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 2:29:39 PM EDT
Sam Adams is piss. Guinness is the clear wininer.

You must be missing half your tongue...

EDIT: Are there any good porters in the US? We've got ass loads of pilsners, plenty of lagers and ales and several stouts to choose from, but porters are kindof hard to come by. Stone Brewing's Smoked Porter (which is pretty decent) is the only one I've seen recently.
Link Posted: 3/12/2006 2:32:21 PM EDT
You can't use Sam Adams in the making of an Irish car bomb or a true black and tan though.

Try and find Young's Oatmeal Stout and Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Both are very, very good...and that's why I cannot afford them.

#1 Fuller's ESB
#2 Courage Directors Bitter
#3 Samuel Adams 3 Weiss Men

Guinness is disgusting. Anyone that drinks guinness probably also drinks keystone light and shops for purses.

Yuengling, Corona, Sam Adams lager - good enough for me.

All Guinness comes straight from Ireland.

I have had an Irish soup that used Guinness in the stock.
