I have some of the old British NATO targets of the nasty East Bloc variety that I would like to have reproduced en masse for my own use. (Charging, Prone) What would be the best route?

These are life size, and a home printer is not going to cut it.

They do have the Queens copyright on them, from what I can tell.

Smaller, (Prone) size is 22" x 18"

kinkos would charge you an arm and a leg to do it, but they could probably get it done.

why are you so fired up about using these targets? just the cool factor?

You can make your own silkscreen for pretty cheap.

I doubt anything you could do on your own would be cheaper than a print shop. And if you just want a few and go to the corner print shop, yes--you're gonna get reamed. You might call around and ask for someplace that specializes in promo posters. If you buy a hundred or so and put them on cheap paper (newsprint) they might not total so much.

My suggestions:
---trace it yourself as a postscript file for them to work off of. Download GIMP if you don't have anything else that can do postscript.
---the big version is two-color printing (black + blue ring), which would cost a lot more than just black-only printing. I would switch that blue ring to the same as the others (black/white).

Short of going to a commercial press for those, look for a local reprographer's house... they specialize in turning out large quantities of blueprints, so a quantity job on that size paper should be easy for them. A google or yellow pages search for "reprographics" will find you somebody close. Kinko's has the equipment to do it, as well.

Let up Target Express. It is a target printing program that has civilian and mil targets in it. I know it has the full size man on it but I'm not sure on the half size. It will print them on multiple pages for you to tape together. This may not be what you are looking for but it might work. It has a 2 week trial limit, after which you pay or it won't work anymore. You can also use Microsoft Publisher to enlarge pics for multiple pages. The resolution goes down but if you are shooting at extended ranges it doesn't make much difference.

Here's an idea ...

Trace the pattern onto a sheet of thin plywood. Use that as a template and cut out the parts you want colored in. Then lay the template over a piece of cardboard and use a can of spray paint to color it in.

materials:
- sheet of thin plywood
- carboard sheet
- can of flat black apray paint

Sounds like a cheap homemade silkscreen machine. You could do other patterns and if you got creative do multicolored camo'd targets also.

You can still purchase those targets online. Having them custom reproduced would be very expensive..

They make a small version of the full size one that is printer friendle on copier size paper called a Figure 11 combat Pistol.

Someone had a link to the military supplier of those targets...

Not really believable.

The character is running. I doubt fat Mike can do any running, except from his pie hole.

+1

And besides, he wouldn't have a gun, it would more then likely be a hotdog in each hand, or maybe a box of twinkies.
