My father-in-law came over to my house tonight with his new laptop.

While he was playing around with it, he said that he detected two wireless networks running through my house.

What does that mean?....in layman's terms please.

If you don't have one set up, then it means some of your neighbors do, and he was able to detect their signals.

ETA: Google 'wardriving' to see what some people do with those signals.

It means you have neighbors with unsecured wireless. If you have wireless, I guess you do too...

that means that you are in the broadcast range of 2 wireless networks. right now i am in range of 4. I have mine, and the neighbors around me all have wireless as well, so my card detects their signal.

there is also the wireless network the gov't uses to communicate with the chip in your head........

Mine is secure, but 3 uneducated wireless foks around me are open, and one actually has a stronger signal than my wireless router, I think he/se bought one of the manly antenas CompUsa, others sell...

I bet he has at least 3 neighbors enjoying broadband internet on his dime...
