Well, I'm a hooker! Just got back from carrier qualification onboard the USS George Washington. Talk about an experience of a lifetime. It's violent, it's nerve racking, it's exciting, and it's downright fun as shit. I'll be getting my wings on March 17th.

Dude just becareful and comeback home. Controlled crashing is no way to land airplanes. Just ask any Air Force pilot!

But I can always tell when its one of you guys in the cockpit when I fly. Fast approach, slam on to the runway and to the gate. No gentle wheels down you.

Single-anchor, T-45, initial CQ before getting wings. I'll be finding out what Fleet bird I'll be going to next week. Hopefully Super Hornets in Oceana!

Dare I use the cliche? Yeah, I earned it...

Flaring to land is like squatting to pee

I thought about starting a thread asking "Anyone ever launch off a carrier? What's it like?" But I figured I wouldn't get any responses.

Do not underestimate the Afrkom.

Takes big cajones to land a plane on a carrier.
I'm retired army, but just this once...

GO NAVY!

Real conversation overheard between two Air Force pilots:

Pilot one: That Navy prick is making fun of our runway, he kept singing "I can see for miles and miles". He said that with 50 feet of cable and some anchor chain, he could land sideways on it.

Pilot two: That "Navy prick" could do it at night in a thunderstorm. Just be glad you don't have to!

Congratulations Fly-Navy! Thank you for your service.

Landing on a runway that's 3K long and 75 ft wide is exciting enough, can't imagine on a carrier. Congrats!

We don't pick em, your buddies pick em. If you get Maverick, they must hate you. Mine has been Stifler for a while now (they think my mom is hot). I also got HIV, I've had a cough I couldn't shake for about 3 months... they think it's funny.... some others think it's highly offensive and it got censored.... needless to say I prefer Stifler.

IBT 'Post pics of your mom' comments.

At least they didn't call you 'stacy'...

So what was your final grade?
OK 3?

Any bolters?

Congratulations!

So are you a member of the Tailhook Association yet?

10 traps on your own... the first time??

Man. We know you can land on a boat, but can you land on your feet? You must be floating about three feet in the air with pride. What a kick!

*BTW, that Goshawk is so cool looking. What a rush it must be to fly it onto a boat. Now you're on your way. Time to start a "I love me" wall. I'm not jealous... really, I swear! Got any pics of you in flightsuit and looking cocky? Have fun, keep safe.

Kind of gives short field T/O's and Landings a whole new meaning.

Congrats on passing carrier quals!

Thanks!

We haven't had the full debrief yet from the LSOs, we'll have that this week. I don't think I got an OK pass, I might of, but I think only one of us did, but the LSO said I did pretty well, that our entire class was strong. I got a few bolters, mostly Touch-n-Go bolters, only 2 hook-down bolters if I remember right. Not sure how the Tailhook thing works, if they do that when we wing or whatnot.

This pic was taken during Field CQ the week prior to going to the boat. There is an ATC controller here that likes to go out to the runways and take pics of us. I'm sitting at the hold-short here waiting for my clearance to takeoff.

I'd give three inches off my dick to be a Naval Aviator, and that's saying alot 'cause I'm Irish.
