Do you have onboard sound? Are you using a PCI sound card? Both?
I have had a problem where the onboard sound conflicted with my PCI soundcard. I had to uninstall the drivers for the onboard sound. |

The sound card is whatever came with it. It's a Sony Vaio. No modifications on my end.
It just stopped making sounds. |

try uninstalling it in the hardware control panel then rebooting.

you might need a new driver. just go to the website that makes the comp,and look for the downloads section. the drivers can get outdated,and a simple download can fix it sometimes.good luck

I had that happen once. The sound blaster program got corrupted. I had to reinstall it. |

That happened to me the other day. I had set something on the keyboard vulume switch. Tore everything up untill I figured out how dumb I was.

Bama, I am with the "reboot" crowd. Sometimes those pesky drivers just go off on their own and need a little reboot kick.

Open up the "Control Panel" window.
Click on "Sounds and Audio Devices". On the "Volume" tab, click on "Advanced" under the Speaker Settings. Click on the "Performance" tab. Click on the "Restore Defaults" button. |
